Hawke arrived a short time after Rosalie, wearing the cloth and the woolen coat, letting it stay open as he walked. A lady wanted to go shopping. The last shopping experience he had went... well... in his eyes it didn't go well. His sister managed to gussy him up and her boyfriend practically cackled as Hawke fiddled with those damn pants ( ... )

"Ah, Hawke.", Rosalie greeted him, smiling beautifully but still worrying a bit deep inside. Being human again did not make things better. As a vampire her thoughts had been much faster, she knew that and it was annoying in a way. But it could get worse, couldn't it? Sure, it always could.

She was almost a bit surprised about seeing Hawke like that. Well, these were not the clothes she had given to him, when she had picked him up but ... actually she had not really thought that he would wear them really. His attitude towards pants seemed to be a rather bad one. But wasn't he cold?
Rose herself definitely was. Otherwise she would have worn a short dress instead of the leather and fur coat, the cord trousers and the Scandinavian styled pullover she was wearing now. But her human body was able to feel cold unlike her vampire self.

"Why is it that you are not freezing, while I could freeze right on the spot?", she asked him playfully.

Hawke grinned and stepped closer to her, smirking a bit. "The love of others keeps me warm." The smirk eased into a smile as he tilted his head a bit. "I am used to wearing little. Though I do admit that it is a little cold here, and I would be warmer if I had my magic, but I will suffer wearing my cloth and the coat." He pouted playfully, almost moving to nudge her arm. "You do not approve of this, which is why you are taking me .. clothes shopping?"

"The love...?", Rosalie asked, chuckling quietly at Hawke's words. "Ah, I see." Her laugh turned into a wide cheerful smile as she patted his shoulder in a friendly way.
"That I do not approve of this ... is only part of it.", she told him playfully, smirking at him in a caring but also evil-fashioned way. "I'm a doctor and doctors can not let their friends become ill because they happen to be too stubborn to wear proper clothes. If we could heat the building the normal way I would probably not say much about it, but ... like this."

She sighed. "Okay, I'm being honest. Actually I think that you would look very very good in most of the clothes I have in mind." If she would have been more innocent, what she not really was, she might have actually blushed, but not in this case, not this time.

"Ah. I see." Hawke grinned and bowed his head slightly. "Then shall we go?" He had no idea where they would be going, but he trusted her to follow. "What kinds of clothes do you have in mind?"

"Yes, I think so.", she replied, nodding softly, a smile on her lips and already heading down the road. "What clothes ...? Mh, that really does depend on what we are able to find within the city." She turned to face him while she walked and winked at him, telling him this way that there would be no more information he would be able to get out of her right now.

He grinned at her wink, making long strides to catch up to her. His hand drifted over to brush along the small of her back before it rested at his side again, quickly falling into the habits of his adopted family. He liked her, that much was apparent. She was kind and strong and knew what she wanted. He grew up around strong people like this, so she easily reminded him of home.

And for now, he would remain quiet until they came to the store she wanted to go shopping in.

Rosalie walked as fast as she could, which was nothing that she was used to because even running in her human body would lead to being unusually slow in comparison to a vampire's normal speed, but did her best on not appearing to be in a hurry. The main reason for wanting reach one of the shops she was looking for as fast as she could was that she had no idea when this event would be over and she would return to being a vampire again and even less knew what her vampire self would think of being that close to a human.

Human. She repeated again within her mind. But a human with special abilities. Abilities like those her siblings inherited ( ... )

Hawke nodded and continued to meet her strides, speaking in that oddly accented voice about his people. The Faunlyn were peaceful and kept to themselves. They were hunters and gatherers, working together to support the whole community. No human technology, but fire and water and magic. There was trade, but not money like payment. Close friends slept together in groups for warmth and security. The worse punishment one could impose upon another was segregation. Families were bound more by spirit than by blood, though everyone was considered one's brother or sister, there. Children were precious gifts, and even though they were taught how to be polite and helpful, they were never left wanting. There weren't couples like marriages there, and the belief that love was a never ending resource and could only be strengthened by others kept them close and jealousy almost non-existant ( ... )

Rosalie was stunned to a point were she could not really found words. Her steady pace slowed down and finally stopped. They were near the shops she had wanted to visit with him, but instead of turning towards them she turned to face Hawke once more. "All of this ... it really sounds nice. Really.", she told him in nothing more than a whisper. She was impressed and her voice at decided to work against her it seemed. "It sounds much more peaceful than the world I call home and ... this place here."

There had been many conflicts back in her world, she told him softly. Vampires were only allowed to live disquising themselves because of the Rules the Volturi, a group of Ancients, each one of them a couple of thousand years old, has set for them. If one did not obey the rules and told humans what he really was, the Volturi's guards would come after him and kill him without even listening to reason ( ... )

Hawke shifted closer, automatically wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her close against his side before he even thought about what he was doing. She was in pain, and he considered her his friend, so it was only natural for him to try to comfort her. He didn't quite understand it all, other than she had been human once, and for some reason, she no longer was. A low rumble came from him, a purr or sorts that was too short for his own liking.

"Rosalie..." He had no words for her as he kept her against his side, trying to offer some form of comfort as she wept. "Were you changed to be like this against your will? What is it that you want now?"

Rosalie had not expected herself to have a mental breakdown like this, but now she was human and the emotional memories she had repictured just now had been too much for her to take. She found herself weeping at Hawke's chest shortly after, her arm locked around his torso as if she was going to collapse if he did not hold her in his arms and possibly she even would. She was sorry to cry, she hadn't wanted their meeting to change into this, she had wanted it to be fun, to have fun with him today ( ... )

He held her all the tighter, pressing chaste lips to her temple as he let her cry, purring softly and speaking quietly in that strange, musical language to comfort her. He knew women who mourned their inability to have children, and he knew women who were forced against their will. For the longest time, he wondered why he knew these things, was subjected to the initial pain, and now he realized that it was to comfort others. Like this woman.

Hawke said nothing, just allowed her to speak and mourn and be more of a comforting presence than anything else. Regardless of the fact she wanted to have fun, it seemed as if she needed this grieving point more than ever.

Rosalie cried for a rather long time after her words had died away, searching comfort in her friend's arms. When she finally was able to get a grip on herself again, her chocolate brown eyes were highly reddened as she looked up at him again. She still could not forget about anything that had happened to her, not even after more than 70 years of being a vampire. She was not that strong, even though she always pretended to be.

"Just ... why had it to be me ...? Why could I not have died ...?", she asked him with a stern look on her face. "Simply died instead of this ..."

When she lifted her face up, he thumbed the tears away from her eyes, his own eyes pain filled with empathy. "I do not know." It was a simple answer, and an honest one. One could not know the will of the Ancestors. Perhaps there was a lesson Rosalie needed to learn, or teach others. No one would know until it happened.

"But know this: Whatever happens to you is for a reason, even if you do not know that reason now. When the time comes, you will."
