Yes, I know, I'm evil for having disappeared for the past several months. But everything is fine here. I'm still doing the SAHM thing, and Bear keeps me plenty busy. At his 6-month well baby visit a couple of weeks ago, he was up to 16 lb, 5 oz, which is a little below the BF baby curve. According to my calculator, that actually puts him at the 20th percentile, and I was sorta worried, so I took him to a lactation consultant to do a pre- and post- feeding weight check. At that particular feeding, he got 1 OUNCE! Suffice it to say, we've gone back to pumping and bottle feeding, which I had stopped after about 4 months because I got tired of it. Now I'm nursing twice a day still, but he gets bottles for the other three feedings. I hate going back to the bottle after switching to the breast (I was actually starting him on the sippy cup), but the kid's gotta eat, and I need to monitor his feedings, because he was seriously going anorexic super-model on me.

He loves solid food, although he does have his days when he doesn't want to eat. But I started him on cereal with BM about a week before he hit the 6-month mark, and he absolutely refused to eat it. He won't let me put anything in is breastmilk. So I make his cereal with juice instead. He has also had peas, green beans, squash, carrots, and sweet potatoes. He loves the orange veggies...not so much with the green ones, especially peas. I started him on fruit last week. I think he might have had a reaction to bananas - he got a rash on his belly and back. I'm not sure if it was from the bananas, though, or from his new soap. I took him off the bananas to see if it clears up and if it doesn't, I'll stop using the soap and try him on the bananas again to see if that takes care of it. He also loes apples, but I knew he would since he's been getting apple juice in his cereal for the past month almost and loves it.

Bear was baptized on December 14th, and we had a pretty sizeable crowd for the baptism and the reception at our hosue afterward. It was a beautiful ceremony, even though I ended up buying his baptism gown instead of making it as I had originally planned (after I cut out the pieces, I discovered that my sewing machine was acting screwy and I didn't want to bother with getting it fixed since I was cutting it close on time anyway). Bear was pretty good throughout the ceremony, even though he was probably tired since it was during his regular naptime. He had a pretty loud poop right in the middle of it, but only the godparents, Ali, and I heard it, and fortunately it stayed in the diaper...can you imagine the pictures otherwise?! The godparents were Rebecca, one of my sorority pledge sisters, and her husband, David.

Bear started sitting up unassisted a few days before he turned five months old. He started saying "mama" back in December, but he obviously doesn't know what it means. He also says "baba" now. He really likes to scream/squeal really loud, and he tends to do it at inappropriate times, like in the middle of mass. No teeth or crawling, he doesn't really seem all that interested in moving under his own power - he doesn't even roll much anymore, although I know he can. He went through a phase where he didn't sleep very well, but he's been doing better about that recently, and now he sleeps from a little before 9 until 8 am, with just a few wakeups at night when he loses his paci, and it takes less than 30 seconds to put him back to sleep.

There isn't really much of anything going on in my life other than Bear, sadly. I might be picking up a client tomorrow, though. My dad is on the county board of education back home, and their attorney recently retired, so he's trying to get me that contract. It would be the perfect client for me, because when they do have litigation, it tends to be really interesting, but there really isn't a whole lot, so I can continue to devote most of my time to Bear. Also, I'm scrounging up sponsors for Junior League. I'm three sponsors short, though, and the deadline is in just a few weeks, so I hope to get three more before then, but if not, I'll have to wait for next year, I guess.
