This was in the Toronto Star today as a suggested cultural event the CFL could have at a future Grey Cup*...
Shatner sings Stompin' Tom: A rare live musical performance at Roy Thomson Hall by William Shatner, interpreting the music of Canadian country icon Stompin' Tom Connors and accompanying himself on stompin' board. You haven't truly heard "Mufferaw Joe" until you've heard it Shatner'd!
I would TOTALLY go see that! This needs to happen! Someone have Stompin' Tom's people call Bill's people right now!!
I went and saw
Stompin' Tom waaaaay back while at university, at Lulu's Roadhouse in Cambridge. The man put on a hell of a show and it was a stompin' good time. And I love William Shatner's album Has Been. It's brilliant.
So William Shatner performing Stompin' Tom's ouvre? Priceless...
* for my American readers, the CFL is the Canadian Football League. Compared to the NFL it is... well a bit of a joke. But, it is very popular in certain areas of Canada (i.e. not so much here). This weekend is the Grey Cup, which is the CFL's equivalent to the SuperBowl. But without as much money. The Grey Cup is being held in Toronto this year. Now you know :)
