Well, it's been a while. I hope all of you had a great Christmas and are on the way to a very Happy New Year(: I can't believe we only have like one more week until school starts up again. This break seems shorter than usual, but I know it's not. Christmas was a zoo as usual...I must have hit 5 reunions in two days...yay. Steven and I spent New Years in Dallas with his sister. I'm totally envious of her and her family. She's married with two kids (Kelsie-7 and Trevor-3). They have the perfect family, in the perfect house, in the perfect neighborhood. We were there for like five days, and I just caught myself thinking,"Wow, I want this." Haha!
On our way back to Baton Rouge we stopped in Shreveport, on Tuesday, for my medical school interview. It went really well, and I should hear back from them in two weeks. I actually got to spend a little time with Dr. Kennedy, and he gave me some really useful information on financial aid...a definite plus! During my interview with him, he looked over my resume and transcript, and he was like,"Wow...you've been very busy!" That was pretty cool(:
Been doing lots of work on the wedding. We scheduled our Engagement Conference, and it'll be on Saturday, February 12 in Baldwin...wherever that is. It's ALL day (8:45am-5:00pm). It'll probably be pretty cool. I also sent off all of the envelopes for the invitations to my cousin, Shelly, who has offered to address them in calligraphy as our wedding present. I've gotten like 80 addresses taken care of, and I have about another 40 ready to go to her...just want to get my mom to check over the names for me. Sooo, that leaves around another 80 to take care of...this wedding is progressing to the wedding that will eat the Earth...haha! Let's see, what else...I called the photographer and Steven and I will be going in to take our engagement photo probably within the next two weeks (depends on when we get haircuts...haha!). I'm trying to organize a get together for all of my attendants, house party attendants, and mothers to come over to my house and work on guest favors, programs, stuffing invitations, and cake tasting. (The cake lady bakes entire sample cakes instead of "bites". You get the first cake complimentary, then every one after that is like $5.) I'd like to do something the weekend before Mardi Gras, but I don't know if people will be able to make it then...guess I'll make some calls next week to see. We've also been working on honeymoon plans. We're going to go to Denver, and I'm really excited because I've never been there! I think we're gonna stay in Estes Park for 5 nights and Colorado Springs for 4 nights. I think we're gonna do like a private cabin or vacation home rental (I put in a request for one with a hot tub...haha!) We're also trying to work on finding a house. Steven's been in touch with a mortgage broker to see how much we'd qualify for. We've also gotten in touch with a real estate agent who sends us periodic emails about houses that are available in the New Orleans area. I think we're going to try to find something in the River Ridge area...we're shooting for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, with a big fenced in backyard for the dog(: It's been a really exciting time...just really busy!!
Steven and I have gotten back into our exercise/eat right regime. I've been doing a little over 4 miles on the elliptical in about 40 minutes...it's been killing me though! I'm gonna shoot for 5 days a week...we'll see how long that lasts! Think I might try the counting calories method Meesh is doing too...seems to work pretty well. I've got a wedding dress to get into in less than 6 monthes...ahh! I'd like to lose like 10 lbs I think.
Well, this has been a long entry. Considering that I have to take a four-hour test tomorrow (Praxis II and PLT), I should probably get some sleep. I'll update more later.
Oh...one more thing...my birthday is on Mardi Gras this year...how cool is that?!
