So with the ALP changing it's official position on gay marriage, gay marriage is back on the public agenda, causing a great deal of moral outrage, because the walls of our civilisation will surely fall if our laws recognise same sex relationships as equal to heterosexual ones. I made the mistake of getting into a discussion on this subject with a classmate, and her reasons for opposing gay marriage was that marriage has always been between a man and a woman, and anyway, gays are gross. It'd kind of hard to respond to statements like that. I find pineapple gross, but don't have issues with other people putting it on their pizza, I mean what business is it of mine?
Also apparently being supportive of gay marriage, that means I am part of this gay lobby I keep hearing about from the conservatives. I guess they just forgot to send me the card in the mail or teach me the secret handshake. I am not some massive defender of gay rights any more than I am a champion of putting pineapple on pizzas, I just think if you like pizza, you should be able to put what ever toppings on pizza you like, I mean it doesn't make your pizza any less valid than my pizza, but dammit we are all pizza lovers here and I think that is what should unite us, not petty differences about toppings. As long as you like pizza and eat pizza in a responsible manner you are okay with me.
