I thought it would be a good idea to get the first of the Mega Man series, since I'm now really into the games.
There are a few things wrong with this kind of plan.
1. It is the FIRST Mega Man game, so it is on the earliest Nintendo system ever.
2. The game is so fricking impossible that it took me half an hour, and about a dozen deaths, to get past the first screen itself.
3. And that's using save states, i.e. cheating, which you cannot do on a genuine NES.
Basically, the first screen consists of three ledges. You have to jump onto each ledge to get to the ladder.
Each ledge has a monster on it, which moves around. As soon as you step on the ledge, they will ZOOM around, run into you, you will lose health, and you will probably fall off the ledge.
True, you can try shooting them, but shooting them only paralyses them for a few seconds. After that they start moving again.
Also, if you're on the same ledge as they are, they're too small to shoot. This represents some difficulties.
Firstly, if you run into them you'll lose health and probably fall off the ledge - EVEN if they're paralysed.
So what you do is wait for monster to reach end of ledge, leap up, shoot it, get onto ledge, hope that second monster is on the end of its own ledge because otherwise you have to start again, shoot it, jump on second ledge...
And I considered doing the same to the third monster, but after 20 minutes of dying I decided I'll just jump on the ledge and onto the ladder.
To make things worse, you have to jump off the VERY EDGE of the ledge.
Oh, and if you FINALLY get through all that, you have two more similar monster, on very small ledges, which you have to jump over.
And then there's some electricity barriers which attempt to kill you.
And a ladder, full of robots which shoot you on all sides as you attempt to ascend, but which then stay at a distance so you can't get at them.
Bloody hard game.
Now for a completely unrelated note. You know when you get introverts who need to be by themselves, and can't stand being with lots and lots of lots of AARGH people?
There's two of us in the house. Just TWO. And already I feel like I only need one. I'd rather there was just silence sometimes.
But minds change.
And now. Regarding daemon story.
New characters coming up...and these ones I AM looking forward to. Finally, Meserta and Lagon get a bit of help. I've only planned 5 chapters ahead. I should really plan 15.
