HA!!!!! My son, fondly known as "Dude," has passed his 5th try at his exit exam this morning, right in the NICK OF TIME and will walk through both graduation from college and his radiography class pinning ceremony with all the meaning it should have.
He will not have to pay fees, take an F in his last class and enroll in summer semester for the priviledge of taking that stupid exit exam over and over again until he passes.
I am so proud!
Some of you that read this, like Ms. Lillyflowers and Wren13, remember Dude at age 9. Now at 23, he has become a really amazing emerging adult. It hasn't been easy, he is smart, but not a book learner. I've not been the best mom in a number of ways, especially as evidenced by my wandering jew self and the number of ex husbands that will be present in 5 hours.
But, my son will graduate from college with a BS. He has been offered a job working as the radiolgogy tech in the OR based on his clinical work. He is a kind person with a good sense of humor and love and respect for other living things. He had his heart broken recently, so I think he is maturing in matters of love. He has an open and curious mind, appreciating NASCAR and nature.
All and all, as a parent - I am proud.
Ok, back to my fun and me!
R and I are staying in a lucious vacation cottage on the marsh. I'm typing this from our private dock, which is reach of the router. We've eaten shrimp and grouper and fresh blue crab. I don't have my car reader to download photos, but will later. We have cute feline companions.
Yesterday I took a very serious high level open water ocean kayak lesson. I have been pronounced "intermediate" which is a big deal - esp since I've only had 2 other very limited lessons. One more open water and I'll be ready for serious surf kayaking lessons, the ocean equivelent of white water, which is totally thrilling and fun, but with less rocks and more possibilities for drowning.
Oh, and R is taking the most mild and plush ocean/marsh nature tour with me on Friday in the hopes that he learns to love enough aspects of this that he will take my current ocean/tour boat and I can buy a new, spiffy ocean surf/lite camping boat. And he can come with me some, as we recreate too much solo these days.
Ok, 'nother application of topcoat to toes and fingers to complete my look before the hoards of exhusbands in a few hours.
