It is all about the money these days.

I was pretty bewildered and at the same time appalled at what I read on the suggestion of having monetary rewards as incentives to get blood donors. I second what Mr Jason Ng said and I am not trying to be a cynical here but honestly, if monetary rewards were to be incentives.. hell will most likely to break loose. What I meant by that? People will slowly abuse and take advantage of the reward, donating their blood for money to support themselves even. It is the recession now, some people are willing to do anything for money. I wouldn't be surprised if anyone would do that. In this case, I don't think 'donate' would be the right word to use, it should be 'sell'.

My questions I have for those who thinks that monetary reward can actually bring in more donors are,

Why are you putting monetary value on a deed to save lives?

When you put some form of monetary value to the things you have donated, don't you think the action of donating you did has lost its true essence of doing it voluntarily?

And since when good deeds are done with people paying you?

"Men do not value a good deed unless it brings a reward."
Ovid

Is this you?
