Christmas is upon us once again. I got done with school yesterday at 11:10. I had enough time in my day to teach fourth grade, first grade, second grade, and be supervising presence in the eighth grade. At 11:30, the school board bought us lunch and we revealed our pixies. Laughter abounded. I’m surprised no one started to cry they were laughing so hard.
The concert last weekend was a success. I’ve heard many a compliment about it. But I don’t know if it is sincere or if I was just that stressed out that people felt they needed to reassure me. The administrator (the infamous Mr. O) liked it a lot.
He said it was the best he’d seen in his thirty years of teaching. All he wants to change is the microphone system. (Huh…you think a twenty-year-old system has some problems in it?) That’s reassuring. I was afraid he was going to come in and demand a musical of all musicals.
I do know that he wants to add sixth, seventh, and eighth grade to my schedule for next year. I don’t know how I feel about that. The only way that is going to happen is if I get less time with the students I have now, and give up lessons. And I DO NOT want to give up lessons. That’s where I can really get the kids up to their level. Help them one-on-one. I shouldn’t fret about it. It’ll all work out in the end. (That’s a movie quote, but I have no idea which one.)
Today holds laundry (most dreaded of all household tasks), cookie baking (three kinds: Oooey Gooey Butter Cookies, Oooey Gooey Chocolate Cookies, and Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies), banking, packing (for myself AND JP), wrapping gifts, and cleaning out the car so that four adults and all of their paraphernalia for four days can fit in my car. It is my vacation…can’t you tell?
This weekend holds visiting my parents. We’re taking Jeanie and Eric with us. Hopefully, we will be leaving by 12:30 and arrive at mom and dad’s around 5:30. Mom said a week ago that she was taking us out to Pizza Hut. I don’t know if that is still the plan. Christmas Eve we’re just being together playing games (including Apples to Apples) and eating. The last menu I heard was lamb (Lisa’s coach or somebody or other raises sheep), AuGratin potatoes, asparagus, green bean casserole, and whatever else we come up with. So very exciting it all is! We’ll be headed to mass at some point…don’t know when exactly…but at some point. Christmas Day is at my mom’s side. Then JP and I will deliver Jeanie and Eric to Peoria to hook-up with their ride back to Southern Illinois. Monday JP and I will travel with my parents to dad’s side of the family. Then we will return to Southern Illinois on Tuesday.
Thankfully, I don’t have to be back at school until the FOLLOWING Tuesday. If I had to go back to school on Wednesday, I think I’d call in sick.
We’ll I now have enough information typed into this entry to warrant it as a long one. I might have to change the font just so that I can claim that it is shorter. The funny thing is that I have so much more I could tell you… but maybe if I’m “bored” (procrastinating…it’s the same thing) later I’ll fill you in.
Off to the bank I go!
