Through threats and coercion, we got enough people for a five player game of Battlestar Galactica tonight. It turned out to be the best round of BSG I've played yet. The play order was President Roslin, Chief Tyrol, Admiral Helo, Baltar (me), and Starbuck.
The journey of the Galactica and her rag tag colonial fleet began quietly, just your run of the mill Cylon attack. Even when another basestar and various small Cylon craft arrived we managed to keep things orderly and calm. We managed to jump away from the Cylon fleet without suffering to many unforeseen consequences, and I got the opportunity via a crisis card to check Roslin's loyalty card. I informed the fleet that she was not a Cylon.
We managed to progress pretty quickly past the halfway point, where everybody gets another loyalty card, and when it came to be my turn again I thought it prudent to use my once-per-game ability to view all of another player's loyalty cards. I checked Admiral Helo and then told the fleet that he was also not a Cylon.
Now we started to have some resource trouble. Before the halfway point we were actually passing crises at a good clip, but now mysterious sabotages started occurring, cards that hindered our skill tests. In one case there were two blue Engineering cards dragging us down and I looked pointedly at Chief Tyrol. I reminded everyone that the destiny deck had already contributed blue and since I had not contributed, it must have been Tyrol. When my turn arrived again I led a successful attempt to throw him in the brig.
With one threat largely neutralized, the fleet continued along. We were jumping at a fairly good pace but our resources continued to fade away. President Roslin suddenly realized that her "President" card allowed her to get Quorum cards (often very helpful) without having to incur Roslin's character disadvantage when using locations. I mentioned how suspicious it seemed to me that she just conveniently forgot how the card works all this time, denying the fleet more access to the powerful Quorum cards. Admiral Helo and I attempted to brig her but couldn't get the support. President Roslin firmly believed Starbuck was the other Cylon, and Starbuck protested that she had no idea who was. Chief Tyrol protested often and loudly from the brig, going so far as to suggest that I was the Cylon, but all his attempts to escape were put down.
With only two jumps to go until reaching Kobol, we ran into a series of unfortunate crises that put three of our resources in the red. With fuel at two, the fleet jumped and the Admiral selected a destination that would cost us two fuel. "Wait, that will kill us!" I exclaimed. The Admiral proceeded to flip over his loyalty cards revealing that he was a Cylon! "Then who the hell is the other one?" I cried, and then theatrically revealed that it had been me the whole time. With the colonial fleet out of fuel, stranded in deep space just one jump away from Kobol, the Cylon brothers Helo and Baltar sat back and watched the Cylon fleet rip the dirty human monkeys apart.
Now for the really cool part: Helo got his Cylon card at the halfway point but didn't actually realize he was a Cylon until a few turns later. So I knew he was a Cylon before he did!
