Job interviews for edutainment and the future of health care get drunk

Just an update for my adoring fans/readers/misguided fools.

Job Interview For The Fun Of It
I have been offered a position at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, my interview with The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne went brilliantly and about a fortnight ago I was offered interviews for the other Melbourne hospitals I applied to. This means that every hospital that I have applied to for a Graduate RN position has offered me an interview.

I declined the interview for the Western Hospital (located in Foostscray, Melbourne) and I am withdrawing my application. The Western Hospital was my third Melbourne hospital preference and Footscray isn't the nicest suburb.

I had a telephone interview for my second preference the Austin Hospital (located in Heidelberg, Melbourne) on Thursday that I did just for the fun of it and as a learning experience.

My life just prior to graduating: job interviews coming at me from left, right and centre; indulging in edutainment job interviews.

The nursing shortage isn't good for your health but it is good for my future (virtually guaranteed) employment.

Allied Health Party

Allied Health Party: Students of all the health professions (nursing, medicine, physio therapy, OT, speech pathology, veterinary and so forth) gathered together at a large night club to get incredibly drunk have a great time socialising, organised by the Western Australian Medical Students Society.

I sold tickets at Notre Dame so I got VIP status: free entry & several free drinks, FOR REAL!

I had fun and the music wasn't completely dodgy. It was rather ironical that earlier in the day I had a tutorial for "Nursing Aspects of Community Care" on the topic of health promotion to reduce excessive alcohol consumption. I shan't explain the irony but the Cosmopolitans at Metros were great, nothing beats a cocktail with cranberry juice and it's high vitamin C content and therapeutic effects on Urinary Tract Infections.

I took along my new Konica Minolta digital camera to document "proceedings."

Ben, Lyall (a VIP) and David. I can't imagine why but I was mistaken for a bouncer twice.

Mixing some phat beats on the decks.

The Sausage Sizzling People

Lyall, Rachel and Flic. A "hold the camera at arms length and get yourself in the frame" type of photo.

These people could be treating you in the health care system soon. See more photos here http://www.flickr.com/photos/furphy/sets/956915/
