There is Love

I have not posted in quite a while, Habibi has learned to run around in 3 legs and some adjustments have been made to my home. There is now a four step staircase at the base of my bed so that he can climb and sleep on it whenever he wants. there is a similar three step staircase on the sofa that he loves to sleep on. I confronted one of my biggest fears that of his "old mum" coming from Britain to Austin and dropping by to see Habibi. She was incredibly generous and actually told me that had I put him down she would not have held it against me as she know he is wild and crazy and that seeing him only confirmed to her the right choice in who to take care of him. I was touched and relieved!
My sister's house is still plotting along, my oldest sister and I went through and systematically folded clothes and shoes and linens for the Women's Shelter. I was grateful it took us this long as it really was not as burdensome as it could have been had we done it close to my sister's P death. We spent about 5 hours separating the stuff to take to the shelter and overall it was light and easy. I'm grateful that others will benefit from P's clothing.
Thanksgiving was a beautiful event that touched my heart by seeing a total strangers heart so touched.... A friend  (D) called to ask me to dinner to a strangers house who has been in austin a few months, she is alone with her 7 year old and knows no one here. Long story short my sister V and I went with D. Another couple drove up from San Antonio with the turkey and dressing they also had not met the woman. She is from Albania, her 7 year old is quite charming and their dad/husband is in Iraq.  We all met at this woman's house and she had an exquisite table set for appetizers, dinner and then cofee and dessert. When it came time to sit around 5:30 our time her computer chimed and it was her husband with a Styrofoam plate and his dinner at a table. He had gotten up at 3AM Iraq time to eat with his wife and son as he was worried she would be alone...that in itself touched me! Yet eating with him (computer at the head of the table ) and the rest of us around the table conversing and laughing was delightful but the look in his face when he saw his wife and son were not alone was amazing. The couple from San Antonio had two girls around his age so he was happy playing and laughing with them and we were happy to meet his wife and provide company for both. It's funny but the couple from San Antonio knew a friend online from Colorado who knew the husband in Iraq, thus they came to bring the turkey... It's such a small world now!  And I loved the fact that the internet provided the ability for all of us to meet and enjoy each others company. It truly was a Thanksgiving Dinner! Without getting all spiritual I see that there is Love everywhere and in unique way provides for all of us.....and I am thankful! Happy thanksgiving to all and Happy Holidays to all of you!
