But Aunt March...

So we watched the '70s Little Women this afternoon. It was just as bad as I thought it would be. It was hilarious. The girls were appropriately bad. The worst, and I didn't expect it, was Amy. Must have been the hair (those horrid curls!) in part. Beth was... outgoing and hearty. William Shatner was terrible. His accent, if you could call ( Read more... )

Oh boy. Those Shatner pictures...

He actually looks a lot like a hobbit there. He could be in Bag End.

That's the one version I haven't seen and don't own. But now I want to! Susan Dey! Eve Plumb! Meredith Baxter! Greer Garson! Shatner!

Then again... Susan Dey as Jo? What were they smoking?

I think Little Women is a lot like Pride & Prejudice for me- I can love different things about almost all the versions, it seems. Even if they cut out giant plot points or rename Jo's book or if they switch Beth and Amy's ages or are severely historically inaccurate.

She wasn't actually that bad. She wasn't good; don't get me wrong. But she wasn't that bad. Or else I was just distracted by the horror that was Amy, and then the horror that was Shatner, that she looked decent by comparison.

You should see it if for nothing else to get a good laugh.

Re: switching Beth and Amy's ages - that bothered me a lot about the June Allyson version! That and the fact that it seemed like a cheap knock-off of the '32 version.

Netflix it! It's so worth it!

Also, I found at least one clip on YouTube.

You know, I sent my Netflix DVD back last week and I still haven't gotten my copy of this version of Little Women. Sheesh. I don't think Netflix is used to sending stuff out to the boonies. I'll have to tell you my thoughts about it later. Maybe this weekend (if I ever get it, haha), because I'm uber busy this week.

Dude, that's insane. Have they registered it as being received yet? When were you supposed to get the next disc? Maybe you should report it as missing just to get it going again.

Totally, you need to post your reactions to it. It just won't be the same without sharing!
