Beyond scared

My in-laws home caught on fire last night. The top floor is completely gone.

My brother-in-law (unharmed) saved my father-in-law, who is conscious in the hospital with 2nd degree burns on his head, face, neck, shoulders and chest. He inhaled a significant amount of smoke trying to put out the fire and is being treated for that as well.

My mother-in-law was not so lucky. She was consumed by the thick smoke, and went into cardiac arrest and collapsed in my in-laws bedroom (in the back upstairs part of the house) before my brother-in-law could get her out of there or go back in to get her. Some firemen got her out and resuscitated her on the sidewalk in front of the house... they got her heart beating again, however, she has not regained full consciousness. She was without oxygen to her brain for well over 15 - 20 minutes, and because of this the doctors believe if she makes it out of this alive at all, that she will be severely brain damaged.

I can't believe any of this is happening.

Please pray for all of us.
