So, here's some odd news: I'm in the middle of watching the beginning a James Bond movie. Here's why: cause I like Duran Duran (it's one of those cause I was a kid in the 80s deals. Duran Duran is a like Zanotab or Euphorizine without delayed irritability or the burning sensation when you pee.) Must say, "view to a kill"'s intro is weird... all the body paint on dancers wearing skis. If it wasn't part of a james bond film i'd expect it was a performance art piece done at an art school in LA or was on Martin and Rowan's Laugh In (Goldie Hawn would be in the *next* scene with Lily Tomlin.
Other than this earthshattering news: Watched Napoleon Dynamite today :) Enjoyed it a good deal. Didn't love all of it, but I did like a great deal of it. Loved the fact that it totally mixed the time setting (70's/80s style clothing and Rico's van mixed with his cell phone). Also was very into Deb's sleeves XD (hello flashes of molly ringwald in pretty in pink.) and her odd craftyness. I didn't like die laughing at stuff, but I giggled and appreciated the humor a lot. Pedro's hair issues especially, and the gang members with "vote 4 pedro" on their lo-rider. Oh and I did giggle audibly at Kip saying "peace out." All in all very enjoyable, tho it's odd that it took me *that* long to see it.
Um... Oh and I am reading a book titled "The geographer's library" So far, so very good. It's by a guy names John Fasman. As I was reading the book discusses a fictional university "Wickenden University". As I read I thought "This sounds like it could be Brown University." Then i read more and I thought, " This really sounds like Brown." Finally after seeing descripts of the departmental offices (in houses with peeling paint) I figured, "Ok, this MUST be Brown." Between the location description, the students, the description of the environment, and well, all of it... I decided to check the back panel of the dust jacket to see if the author had gone to brown. He had ;) Brown and Oxford. I know it seems ridiculous to suggest that it should have been Brown, but... Well, if you know Brown and you read this discussion, you'd agree. It's an utter match. I still think it's one of the prettier campuses I've walked :) Anyway, the book is managing to entrance me with its back and forth pacing. Lastly, it seems I run into books discussing Alchemy on an oddly common basis. If I believed in universal messages (I don't because I don't take the universal shuttle to the airport), then I'd say the universe wanted me to be an alchemist or you know was telling me something about change and transformation in regards to life itself. As it is, I just think I read weird books. Good ones tho.
Ok, as I've been writing this I've seen Grace Jones come on screen several times. I don't get some of the characters in some of these films. They *suck* at blending in. Grace Jones *might* be able to hide if she was on a Mardi Gras float or in the middle of a dancing crowd at carnivale. However, if she's aiming to not be seen by a spy or people she doesn't want watching her, well she needs to remove that sign abover her head says LOOK HERE'S GRACE not wear a cape/hood/huge hat all the time. Granted, I'm not saying all the characters do. I know they don't. I also know I'm not usually kind toward Bond films. :) It's just... Espionage is about *not* being seen by all the right people, if you catch my meaning. Tho, I guess that's not exactly great fodder for sexy big-budget hollywood films. Oh well. :) (and I'm not criticizing the whole genre right now... just this little angle :) )
I haven't watched *any* AD yet today! @.@ I think I will be watching discs 2&3 later this evening tho... Or as much as I can take in a row. I really do love the first 6 eps tho and I wish I hadn't had to turn them in. Silly library.
