Alright, so I've been really bad about updating. Well, here's six more chapters for you! Most of them are under 1000 words, except for Chapter 8 (in progress). Part this is because I was originally going to make them scenes in larger chapters, but I couldn't figure out what to include in what chapter, so instead I'm just writing a bunch of short chapters. Hopefully this will help me to get more done!
Also, the story seems to be getting milder as I go along, so I don't know what was up with that first chapter. My apologies.
"You know, Larry, I gave you a position as a professor here because I believed I was helping you. I did not give it to you so that you could put my grandson in the campus medical wing for several days and off the football team for the rest of the season," Arwin Moon, the dean of The University, growled at Larry.
"Look, if you had told me he was your grandson, I wouldn't have actually stabbed him. Better yet, if you hadn't put him in my class- or preferably not given me the freshmen to begin with- the pen wouldn't have even been a factor." Larry shrugged and leaned back in his chair. He sipped his cup of fresh-brewed coffee slowly, enjoying the rich taste of coffee from a coffee pot that didn't service all of the other science professors every day.
"That is not the point, Larry. You need to control that temper of yours. I cannot in good faith continue to keep you on the payroll when you keep lashing out at your students. Last year you made a girl drop out due to psychological trauma. Why was she traumatized? Because you went off on her about turning an assignment in late, pointed out her every flaw, insulted her every achievement and told her basically that she would never amount to anything."
"What? She deserved it."
"This is what I'm talking about, Larry. Parents are starting to ask questions. Enough students have had problems with you that I can't hush this stuff up anymore. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to let you go." Larry nearly choked on his coffee.
"You're going to have to what!? But I'm your best researcher! I have bills! I have a private labratory to pay off! How am I supposed to afford that now? And who else is going to weed out the failures for you, huh? I know you hate to see students who can't complete their degree. How are you going to get rid of them now, huh?" He snarled at Arwin Moon.
"I will have to find another way, I suppose." Arwin shrugged. "But I have found somewhere for you to go until you have learned to better control your temper."
"Oh year? Where? The lush green meadows of exile? The beautiful unemployment office on Main Street? That's not going to pay for my labratory, Arwin."
"I never said either of those things would, LArry. And I'm not sending you to either place. I called up an old friend of mine, Ian Woon, and he agreed to take you in a teaching position for this next year." Arwin Moon explained.
"Really now. And how did you get him to agree given all the budget cutbacks?"
"I told him that the University would pay your salary for this year. You get to keep the pay you currently make, and pay your labratory bills."
"Are you seriously just going to kick me off the faculty?"
"If I don't, the University will fall under invesitigation and you will still be away, but not in beautiful Idaho. No, instead you would be in a cramped prison cell." Arwin Moon threatened.
"Alright, alright, fine... when do I leave?"
