Favor, Chapter 1

Walking down the aisle, Gwendolyn could feel her body trembling. 'Is it fear? Or excitement?' Being freed from sleeping spell, she is now into another spell that her father has put on her, love. She know that she is destined to marry anyone that wakes her, but this man is the last possibility of suitors that came into her mind back then. And now she knows she is not that good concealing her emotion from her face as her husband-to-be, seems concerned, ask her:

"Are you afraid of me?"

"No"

"Should we postpone this marriage? You seem no well"

"I am alright. Please do not concern me, as now I belong to you and I will follow you."

She honestly answer all the questions, although Oswald knows better that she does feel uneasy, he can't stop this marriage, or the raging feeling inside him.

Their marriage was simple and short, attended only by her loyal Myris, Broom, and a local priest to marry them. Gwendolyn found it rather ironic, as everything about this marriage are just like her dream marriage where everything seems so divine and her wedding dress make her no less angelic, and she is wed to a man that looks like come from an ancient painting of a beautiful prince. Ironic, as her long lost childhood dream now become reality in the hand of her former enemy.

Before, she imagined that her life would be like a prisoner, entrapped in their little old castle with a low, mean being as her husband. In her surprise, living with Oswald gives her more freedom than living in her father's palace. Oh, how she enjoyed strolling around the city with Myris, something that a royalty like her found as a rare thing to do before. How she enjoyed the scent of flowers and the warmth of her tea as she picnicking in nearby flower field. And, although she hates to admit it, she loves the secure feeling in her heart when Oswald is around her.

Oswald too, being kind and polite to her. Gwendolyn can't help but glad that, unlike her other suitors, her husband treat her as a human being. It is not like she was never treated like human before, but she knows that only a few people in her life treat her as she is, not as a mere tool, but as a girl that needs understanding and care, and deep in her heart, she knows that Oswald is one of those people.

Maybe she really put him a favor. Being treated so nice, no wonder she put him into account.

Several days ago, she won't expect that she would missed his presence. Her hand missed its ring, yet she feels this empty hole deep inside her heart. Oswald and the Tritel, both that were used to fill that empty pit are now gone. At least, one thing that burdened her before has now gone, as now she knows whom she really loved, and her father now accepts her. Thus, the only thing left is her worries, something that she would take care of.

Favor, Chapter 2

Gwendolyn is somewhat distressed, disappointed, and angered by her father's acts when she sleeps. He had gave her to Oswald, to be his bride, which is fine for her. But now she learned that he had also promised herself to Onyx... Now she can't help but feels betrayed.

After all the things that she had done for him. After the entire struggles to gains his favor and love. He recklessly promised her hands to men, Oswald and Onyx, and maybe many others as she used to hear rumors about engagement with Titania's prince when her sister was still alive.

What was it worth to her father, dying in the battlefield for his selfish ambition, accepting punishment to protect his love child, being put into spell, and playing sleeping beauty? All for his happiness and all she get is being tossed around men who want her. And what is she for him? An object? Maybe that is the truth as she is given to Oswald as a 'gift', without ever considering her feelings or opinion.

Not that she regrets having Oswald as her husband, but the way her father gave her to him... She named this feeling as feeling of being rejected.

Nearing midnight, even a saddened princess would retreat as the cold creeps in her flawless skin. Looking into her chamber, she sees her husband, still unconscious from the last battle with Leviathan. One week is almost over and yet, there is still no sign of his consciousness. His wound is closing, but very slowly, as something within him preventing him from recovering. She do realized unusual symptoms with her husband, as he sometimes looked in pain, or how fast his energy is drained lately. Now as she watches him, the thought of her father vastly gone as her worries consumes her throughoutly.

'What if he never awakens? What if he leaves her all alone, just for being another gift to another man?'

No. That thought of being left by her husband is enough to stress her, and the thought of her to be someone else’s is not better. If she has to be someone’s property, then she’ll definitely choose this man.

Laying herself in the other side of bed, she closely examines her husband's sleeping face. Had she not seen Oswald in battlefield, she would mistakes this man as an angel. In his sleep, his face is so peaceful, so handsome. His wounds are severe... It must be painful, even though his face doesn’t show it.

She really wants him to wake up. She missed his smile and warmth. She will do anything to wake him up, just to be with him again.

A silly thought come into her mind. Maybe she would give it a try.

She would do what her husband had done to wake her before. Kneeling forward, she is placing a gentle kiss in his lips, and then she hissed some words in his ears: “Don’t leave me, my dear... For now you had my favor..."

If only Gwendolyn sees Oswald's smile not long after she muttering those words, she'll be dying of happiness and embarrassment. But now, the same embarrassment had caused her to hide under their blanket and then she snuggle closer to her husband to seek for some warmth. Soon after that, she joined him in her dream. And for the first time of the last several weeks, she got her long deserved good night.

The following afternoon, Oswald opens his eyes.
