All right, I'm not exactly sure how this thing works. I've gathered that you're apparently supposed to communicate through it, though, so...whatever, I'll give it a try.

[ a slight clearing of the throat, and then: ]Whoever's out there who can hear this, my name is Elena. I don't know how I got here - I just woke up in the middle of the woods and

Caroline?

[ now elena's even more worried. ]

Caroline, are you okay? Where are we?

audio:

[adeadringer]

They're - who? Who's going to think who took me?

[ long pause. ]

Who took me before?

[ well, a few people, but from the sound of things this happened pretty recently. elena's quiet for another moment or two, and then she speaks up again. whatever caroline's referring to, she wants to know about it, but it doesn't sound like an over-the-medieval-kindle conversation. ]

Where are you?

[adeadringer]

[ she's lying. it has to be something, caroline is a terrible liar, especially when she's worried. the way she'd tried to keep elena distracted the other day was proof of that. but elena lets it drop for the time being, she's more concerned about the fact that caroline is minus her ring. ]

Inside where? What happened to your ring?

[ she's not entirely surprised - she's minus her necklace. but elena without her necklace is much less dangerous than caroline being minus her ring. ]

I have someone coming for me. I can ask her to take me where you are, if you want.

[ translation: tell me where you are so we can talk about this in person, and you won't have to spend all day alone. ]

audio:

[adeadringer]

[ elena's quiet for a bit, possibly doing some pacing and definitely doing some worrying. she does sound relieved that caroline's found somewhere to stay, but there's still worry in her voice. what the hell happened to them? can they get their jewelery back? ]

Okay. I'll be there as soon as I can, I think they're leaving now. Do you know - how long have you been here? Did anyone tell you what was going on?

audio:

[adeadringer]

[ elena sighs, not liking the sound of that. if there's any two people who know from crazy, it's her and caroline. ]

I was kind of hoping the wings would be the extent of it. [ pause. ] Did you have your ring when you got here?

action;

[adeadringer]

[ caroline's voice sounds awfully close now, and before elena knows it she's being crushed to caroline's form in a hug. it takes her by surprise, but she hugs back just as tight (well, maybe not just as, caroline's got the vampire strength on her side after all) despite the residual wooziness that's sticking with her from having apparated with hermione. ]

I don't have my necklace, either. [ which caroline can probably tell. ] Are you okay otherwise? Have you been able to...eat?

[ 'eat' meaning 'feed'. she sounds okay and looks it, but elena's still iffy on how vampire physiology works. ]

action;

[adeadringer]

[ elena shakes her head, though she can see it for herself by now. she notices the grimace, but caroline doesn't look like she's starving to the point of it becoming dangerous, so she squeezes her arm in comfort before pulling away. ]

Maybe we can find something more later. [ for both of them, even though elena isn't particularly hungry herself right now. ] What time do you think it is?

action;

[adeadringer]

[ elena can't help but laugh at that, and when she starts it takes her a moment or two to stop. after a while she realizes how hysterical she sounds and clears her throat, composing herself. ] I'm with you. A burger sounds amazing.

[ she steps away to get a look outside a nearby window, mindful of the vampire nearby as she pulls the curtain an inch or two away - it looks like late afternoon, as far as she can tell. ]

I think it's coming soon. [ she hopes. she turns back to caroline, crossing her arms over her chest. ] Can you show me where you're staying first, before we go out?

[ translation...well, there's no real translation, but this way, whoever may be overhearing their conversation won't get suspicious about why they're not heading out right away. ]
