The Eagle Fic Rec Post I
The Eagle fandom is a movie and/or book-based fandom set in Roman Britian. If you haven't seen the movie yet, or read the book, then you are missing out and I highly recommend you check it out. Even if you aren't a slash fan, the movie is still quite enjoyable and comes with some nice, gory action scenes in the battles.
The recs in this post will all be Marcus/Esca, until I can organize my favorites a bit more and yank out some of my favorite gen fics.
THE EAGLE
. College AU. - over at the_eagle_kink . At the moment it remains unfinished, but is deliciously good all the same. Marcus is, of course, a college football star and Esca is the damaged, former-ballet dancer roomate. Right now, it's all build up in their friendship- but it makes this fic so damn good. I think, if the author ever finishes it, that its rating will be NC-17, as it's pretty close on to that right now, depending on you thoughts about nude guys who aren't yet together maybe feeling each other up. And one just might be concussed. Still, a good AU and worth the read. Definitely one of the best fics I've stumbled across in this fandom. And this fandom has got some good quality stuff.
.Wrong Way to Ragnarok. - by scribbleinsand R/NC-17, again, depending on personal sensibilities. An Eagle/Thor fusion. Esca is a wonderfully pissy little scientist and Marcus is one adorable lost alien. Really. There are no words for the sheer amount of JOY this fic gives me.
Favorite line? "Esca is massaging his hand and swearing like a sailor in three dialects and doesn't think he's going to stop any time soon, because: a) he's fucking pissed off; b) while he's pretty sure that his hand's not broken, his fucking phone is; c) it feels good to vent, and d) if he keeps going then maybe the fucking weirdo will up and leave instead of looking at Esca like he's either the cutest moggie in the world or the one that's just upchucked parts of a dead mouse in his lap."
Bath Night- by planejane NC-17 Author Summary: In the early months of setting up their farm, Marcus and Esca don’t have the means to bathe every day, as was the norm for Romans who could afford it. Bath night, therefore, becomes a pretty special occasion. Though it’s what they do afterwards that’s most special of all.
Really cute and hot sort of domestic fic. I really recommend any fic by planejane as all her Eagle fics are amazing and well worth the read.
A Wolf in Wolf's Clothing by ainsoph15 NC-17. A modern day AU. Esca and Marcus go to a friend's wedding and Esca. wears. a. kilt. Nuff said. Go read. Now. So hot. I melt every time I read this fic.
Never Meant You Harm by emptyaddress R. An AU sort of fusion with Jumper. I loved this fic so much more than I thought I would. And the best part? She's writing a whole verse. I could cry with joy. Beautiful, longish fic where Esca is a Jumper, and Marcus has to decide what he needs to do for himself and Esca, and whether that is ultimately the right thing.
I need some Eagle icons. Must get on that. : )
