Chapter 10:

That Night

“Jaejoong!” Yunho exclaimed as he grabbed Jaejoong off the floor, into his arms as he carried him to the living room. He placed him gently on the couch and from the looks of Jaejoong's flushed cheeks and heavy breathing, he caught a fever.

He wondered what he should do, he hasn't gotten a fever in a long time, much less attended to anyone who's ever had a fever. GAH! He didn't have time to think right now, Jaejoong needed him right now.

He sat Jaejoong up and helped him remove his heavy backpack and took off his wet jacket. He carefully picked Jaejoong up and threw him over his shoulders as he headed straight upstairs to his room. CLOTHES! He needed to get Jaejoong out of his wet clothes, so he rampaged through his closet and grabbed a pair jogging pants and one of his NIKE shirts.

He threw them on his bed as he gently placed Jaejoong on his bed and gulped. He had to remove Jaejoong’s clothes now, then why were his hands shaking?! Hell, come on, Yunho, don’t be an idiot and just hurry up before Jaejoong dies in front of you!

He unbuttoned Jaejoong’s shirt and gently helped Jaejoong sit up right, as Yunho struggled to put Jaejoong’s arms through the arm holes of his Nike shirt.

“Mmmm……Yunho-ah..” Jaejoong mumbled as Yunho pulled the shirt down over Jaejoong’s head. Yunho threw Jaejoong’s wet shirt and now he had to deal with Jaejoong’s pants. He unzipped and tugged Jaejoong’s pants down and helped Jaejoong put on the jogging pants.

Yunho picked up Jaejoong again as Jaejoong just threw his arms around his neck. Yunho looked at Jaejoong’s feverish face, as Jaejoong gave him a small smile and somehow that strange pang in his chest happened again. He looked away from Jaejoong’s face as he unfolded the covers and placed Jaejoong gently on the bed.

The only problem was that Jaejoong was still holding onto his neck and his face was dangerously close to his. Yunho was going to have a heart attack, but Jaejoong didn’t look like he minded at all. Jaejoong was just feverish, Yunho thought to himself, as he gently pulled Jaejoong’s arms off his neck.

Yunho placed the blanket on top of Jaejoong and tucked him, making sure that his entire body was covered with the blanket, to stop Jaejoong's shivering.  Yunho went to the bathroom and went into his medicine cabinet, and thankfully, he still had some Tylenol left. He grabbed a towel cloth and a water basin, and filled it up with water. He hurriedly went to Jaejoong’s side and placed the Tylenol pills by his bedroom cabinet.

Yunho placed the towel cloth in the water basin, soaked and then squeezed it to dry and placed it on top of Jaejoong’s forehead. Then he went downstairs and grabbed a cold bottle of water from the fridge and poured it in an empty glass cup and went back upstairs. Jaejoong’s face was now looking pink, Yunho placed his arm underneath Jaejoong’s head and gently placed his head up.

“Hey..Jae, you have a fever, I need you to take these pills okay?” Yunho whispered in Jaejoong’s ears as Jaejoong parted his lips and Yunho placed the two pills in Jaejoong’s mouth.

“Yunn…it hurts..” Jaejoong said hoarsely, already starting to sweat.

“I know, I know, Jae, drink this, and I promise the pain will go away.” Yunho said tenderly as he held Jaejoong’s head up and held the glass of water on hand and pressed against Jaejoong’s lips. Jaejoong parted his lips and slowly drank it.

When Jaejoong finished, Yunho placed Jaejoong’s head back down on the pillow and placed the towel cloth  on Jaejoong’s forehead and tucked Jaejoong in again. Yunho grabbed Jaejoong's wet clothes, the empty glass cup, and went downstairs. He placed Jaejoong’s clothes in the laundry basket, and placed the empty glass cup on the sink.

Yunho spotted Jaejoong’s backpack and wondered what was in there. He picked it up and wondered if he should open it or not. Maybe it was a spare of Jaejoong’s clothes, he unzipped his bag and small containers fell on his lap. He looked at them and on each container, has its own label.

“Jaejoong’s Special Kimchi” Yunho read the red, bolded writing on the label of one of the containers. He grabbed the rest of the containers and went to his kitchen. He placed them in the fridge so that they wouldn’t get rotten. He looked at the clock hanging above the kitchen table, it was an hour before midnight. Wow, usually he'd go to bed hours after midnight, but today he was going to bed early.

He walked upstairs to his bedroom and turned on the lights. Jaejoong already turned to the side to sleep as the towel cloth fell off his forehead. Yunho walked over to where Jaejoong was facing and placed the wet towel cloth back on Jaejoong’s forehead, and Yunho took a minute to look at Jaejoong. Jaejoong’s breathing slowed down and his face was looking less flushed.

Jaejoong was pretty much occupying most of the space on his bed and he hesitated whether or not, he should sleep on the couch. But he was worried that if he left, then something might happen to Jaejoong. He wasn't going to risk it, not when Jaejoong was in this kind of condition.

He laid right next to Jaejoong, but not too close, he didn’t think he could handle it if Jaejoong was that close. It’s bad enough that strange panging in his chest happened every time Jaejoong was around and when he got too close to him, he always felt a bit too warm.

He got up to switch off the lights and laid a few inches away from Jaejoong as he began to sort out his mind. He closed his eyes, and wondered why Jaejoong came to his house unexpectantly? It’s not that he didn’t enjoy Jaejoong’s company, he loved his company-but that wasn't the point he was aiming for.

He got up to close the blinds, wow, it was still raining really hard, no wonder Jaejoong caught a fever. He sighed and looked back at Jaejoong, to his surprise, Jaejoong was still shivering.

“Yunn…….cold..it’s c-cold-d…” Jaejoong said, shivering even though he was covered in the blanket. Yunho threw the wet cloth that slid off Jaejoong's forehead on one of the bedroom counters.

Yunho didn’t know what to do, that was the only blanket he owned, geez, what was he thinking? He owned so many clothes and yet he only had one blanket, what was he going to -

“Much...b-better.” Jaejoong softly whispered, now against Yunho’s chest. Yunho gulped and attempted to move him, but Jaejoong refused to budge and snuggled even closer.

“Jae…..” Yunho said, trying to move Jaejoong, but Jaejoong started shivering again. Yunho sighed worriedly and let Jaejoong come closer as Yunho pulled the blanket over both of them. He didn't have extra blankets or anything, so he figured this was better than seeing Jaejoong shiver the whole night.

He had no idea how he ended up in this position, with Jaejoong was snuggled underneath his chin, with one of his hands resting on his chest and the other, holding his.

Somehow.. it didn’t bother him at all. The weird panging stopped as he listened to Jaejoong's breathing and the rain. Strange, but whenever he was feeling lonely, how is it that Jaejoong always ended up coming at the right time? He sighed and patted Jaejoong’s head one last time with his other hand and pulled his blanket over them once more.

He closed his eyes, and soon enough fell asleep listening to Jaejoong's soft breathing.

*******************************************************************************************************

Jaejoong had to be dreaming.

Jaejoong blinked his eyes a couple of time and looked at Yunho. He gulped when he realized just how close he was to Yunho. He was close enough to hear Yunho’s heartbeat and his breathing. Jaejoong wasn’t sure what he should do, his hands were all over the place. One hand was on Yunho’s chest and the other …where was his other hand?

He slowly moved away from Yunho and sat up. He yawned and rubbed his one free hand on his eyes, rubbing the sleepiness from them. He looked at Yunho’s sleeping form; he looked so peaceful…and really handsome. How the heck was he not dreaming right now? Usually, in these kinds of dreams, he’d end up waking up to Yoochun’s annoying calls or falling off his bed.

He looked at Yunho’s face, he looked even more handsome even when he was sleeping. Jaejoong noticed something on his face  and scooted closer to Yunho.  There was a scar on his face, Jaejoong frowned and wondered what kind of monster would dare lay a hand on Yunho? He found himself no longer wondering, and instead gently tracing the scar on his face. Even though the scar was carefully concealed, Jaejoong could still feel the tiny stitches on it.

Jaejoong gulped and pulled his hand away like Yunho’s scar burned him. Jaejoong was feeling too warm now, and decided to focus his attention on something else. He looked around the room, man was it huge!

It had to be Yunho’s room, all he could remember was coming by Yunho’s place, and somehow he wounded up in Yunho’s bed. He scratched his head, what the heck happened to him that night? He looked at his clothes, and sniffed it, it smelled like Yunho, this rough and yet masculine smell. Wait…why was he wearing Yunho’s clothes?! He wasn’t drinking when he left the house, and yet somehow he ended up like this. He brushed his long hair from his face and continued to look at Yunho once more.

From Yunho’s well built frame, and that’s when he saw it. His hand was tangled with Yunho’s hand on top of the blanket. For some reason, he felt this strange pang in his chest. But it didn’t look strange, Jaejoong thought, it looked just..right.

Jaejoong shook his head,, what was wrong with him? He was feeling a bit lightheaded as he looked at the clock, hanging above Yunho’s closet. It was almost eight in the morning; Jaejoong was beginning to feel hungry. He looked at Yunho, peacefully sleeping and thought of an idea. It was still raining outside, so much for having a picnic outside!

He gently untangled his hand from Yunho’s warm one, and place his arm underneath the covers, till he was fully tucked in. He got off the bed slowly and found himself staring at one of Yunho’s mirrors. Yunho’s clothes looked a bit big on him, but Jaejoong found it comfortable.

His hair was in a mess too, he looked around and found one of Yunho’s hats and put it on and piled his hair up on top of his head and placed Yunho’s black hat on his head. Well the hat didn’t quite match what he was wearing, but somehow the thought of Yunho wearing these clothes, made him smile.

He looked back at Yunho before heading out the door, and pinched himself hard.

“Owch …” Jaejoong mumbled to himself, so it wasn’t a dream after all. He shut the door slowly, while rubbing his shoulder and headed straight to the kitchen.

*************************************************************************************

Yunho woke up, feeling cold.

He jumped off his bed and began to do some stretches.  He grabbed some clothes from his closet and grabbed his towel. He went into his bathroom and turned on the water. He took off his clothes and place them in the laundry basket by the door.

He stepped in the bathroom stall and let the warm water touch his skin as he washed his hair and took his time, cleaning himself. After this two day weekend, he had to get up early everyday for the trainee training, go through numerous practices and hopefully in the end, he’ll finally be able to being a solo artist.

He got out the shower and dried himself up. He put on his clothes quickly and while drying his hair with his towel. He opened his door and smelled something delicious. His stomach growled in response of the smell, and Yunho followed the smell to the kitchen.

He heard someone singing. He knew that voice from anywhere. He stopped and peeked,  he found himself fighting not to smile and that strange panging came back again.

Jaejoong was still wearing his clothes, and wearing his barbecue apron while cooking something delicious. To his surprise, Jaejoong was also wearing his favorite PUMA hat, he looked down at the table, and it looked like a feast. There was some seafood soup, chocolate chip cookies, and two plates of well cooked pizza. The smell was killing him, and his stomach was impatiently growling as he made his way to the kitchen.

He looked back at Jaejoong, and couldn’t but smile. Jaejoong turned from singing to rapping the verses of the song, he rapped in Dana’s song “Diamond”. Jaejoong continued rapping Yunho’s verses and even started to sing some of Dana’s parts and then he went back to rapping again. For some reason, he found it sort of..cute.

Yunho frowned, CUTE? CUTE? Ok, what the hell is he thinking? He never uses the word "cute" nor does he ever call anything or anyone "cute". Something was seriously wrong with him; the word cool was more like it. Yeah, Jaejoong was cool. Okay, now he just sounded like an idiot.

“Yunho-ah, good morning!” Jaejoong exclaimed loudly, as he grabbed the towel from Yunho’s head and began drying his hair for him.

“Er..um, morning, Jaejoong.” Yunho said, giving Jaejoong a small smile, as he wondered whether or not, he should dry his hair on his own.

“There, I think your hair is dry now, Yunho-ah.” Jaejoong said, as he tugged Yunho forward to a nearby chair and Yunho sat down, staring at Jaejoong as he went to put the towel in the laundry basket where he threw in Jaejoong’s clothes the night before.

Jaejoong took of the apron and placed it back where it belonged and then he sat next to him.

“I wasn’t sure what you liked to eat, but I hope you like it..” Jaejoong said shyly as he offered gave Yunho a bowl of rice and watched curiously to see what Yunho would pick.

Yunho picked up his chopsticks and grabbed some of the hot, red soup that Jaejoong was cooking earlier, somehow he remembered the smell from somewhere before. He poured it on his rice and ate it.

“Is..it okay? Is it too salty?” Jaejoong asked, as he watched Yunho’s expression carefully.

“Jaejoong…what’s this called?” Yunho asked as he chewed and swallowed it. He tasted this from somewhere before, the taste itself was very familiar.

“It’s kimichi soup, Yunho-ah.” Jaejoong said and then he looked at Yunho again, he looked sad. “You don’t like it…Yunho-ah?” Jaejoong asked.

“No, I mean, it’s delicious, it just reminds me of my mom’s cooking, that’s all.” Yunho said, smiling as Jaejoong looked back at him and still looked worried.

“Do you miss her, Yunho-ah?” Jaejoong asked, as he grabbed some of the seafood from seafood soup he made.

“Yeah, I do, sometimes.” Yunho said, as he reached over to grab some seafood from the same dish that Jaejoong got it from.

“Is everything okay, Yunho-ah?” Jaejoong asked, giving Yunho the same worried expression that he gave him last time when they were eating fast food at dance studio. When Yunho didn’t respond right away, Jaejoong placed his hand over his and gave him a gentle squeeze.

He didn't pull away but instead looked at Jaejoong.  Jaejoong had hopeful smile on his face and a small piece of rice by his lip. He didn’t want Jaejoong to worry about his family problems, it was bad enough that he hadn’t spoken to his family in a long time, he had to deal with this, not Jaejoong.

He pulled his hand from underneath Jaejoong’s hand and reached over to wipe the rice off the side of Jaejoong’s mouth. He smiled when Jaejoong’s cheeks turned pink, and looked somewhat lost.

“Yunho-ah? Can I ask you something?” Jaejoong asked him, as Yunho placed his chopsticks down and grab some cookies.

"Sure, what’s up, Jae?” Yunho said, munching on the sweet goodness of the chocolate chip cookie.

“What did we do last night?” Jaejoong asked, as he stared at Yunho with confusion written all over his face.

Yunho’s cookie fell from his mouth as he remembered what happened that night. Jaejoong getting a fever. Carrying Jaejoong to his room. Undressing Jaejoong and helping him in his clothes. Helping him with the medicine. Jaejoong acting sort of weird when he was carrying him. Jaejoong sleeping right next to him really close.

Now how was he suppose to put all of that into one answer?

*************************************************************************************

“Yunho-ah?” Jaejoong asked, waving his chopsticks in front of Yunho’s blank expression.

“Well, you were totally soaking wet from the rain, and you didn’t bring any extra clothes, so I lend you mine.” Yunho said and continued, “You also caught a fever so I gave you some medicine and I watched over you to make sure it didn’t get worse, and I guess, I fell asleep , so that was about it.”

Jaejoong’s eyes widened, Yunho watched over him all night? Jaejoong flushed and wondered if that was all that happened. He bit his lip, he hoped he didn’t say anything weird or do anything unusual to Yunho when he was sick. He looked back at Yunho, who smiled at him and took the hat off his head.

“Yah, Yunho-ah, my hair looks horrible!” Jaejoong exclaimed as he tried to grab the hat from Yunho’s hands.
Yunho chuckled and placed the hat over his head, and gave Jaejoong a dorky smile.

“It’s not so bad, Jae.” Yunho said softly as he ran his fingers through Jaejoong’s hair. Jaejoong stood still and then looked up at Yunho, and to his surprise, Yunho was also staring at him.

“I’m ..going to get more rice.” Yunho said, taking his fingers away from Jaejoong’s hair and went straight to the rice cooker.

Jaejoong took a deep breath and was wondering what was up with his heart beat lately. Jaejoong admired Yunho and has been admiring him since he debuted. Yunho was the reason he wanted to get into SM in the first place, and the reason why he would sing regardless of the fear he felt towards singing. They were already becoming really good friends and he was feeling very thankful.

But at that short moment, he felt like there was something more.

“Jae, you okay?” Yunho asked, interrupting Jaejoong’s thoughts. Jaejoong looked at Yunho, and Yunho gave him a smile and messed with his hair again.

“Y-yes, I’m okay, Yunho-ah.” Jaejoong said, forgetting that ridiculous idea in his mind and ignoring the strange pang in his chest as he ate more from his kimchi dish.

Jaejoong laughed to himself, he was being silly and he looked back at Yunho, who was chewing on a cookie and he looked at him.

"Hm, something on my face?" Yunho asked, touching his face.

"No, it's nothing." He responded with a smile and Yunho smiled back.

That strange feeling came back again and he looked up to see Yunho, looking at him.

"What?"  He asked this time, touching his own face.

Without a word, Yunho reached over and wiped something off of his lips and propped it in his mouth.

"Yum." Yunho said with a smile and continued eating the rest of his cookie.

Jaejoong touched his lips and felt something in his chest move once again, but figured he was being silly again.

After all, what more could they be?
