Just a hint someone gave me once

I'm new to this journaling thing, but I do love to write and have finished a few books. A tip that someone gave me for when struggling through a first draft is to not over think it. I know for me, alot of times I need the first draft to be perfect, but a good teacher of mine kindly informed me that the first draft is never perfect. It's not the first draft's job to be perfect.
Just get your story, the ideas and thoughts you have, onto the page and then go back and worry about perfecting it.
We're all going to write and rewrite our manuscripts several times before they are perfect, and by then the story we will have will most likely barely resemble that first draft, except for the characters and the plot line.
I'm not sure if this helps or not, but I know that this advice definitely helped me alot.

I just joined this group today, and so this is my first comment on someone's post. I'm curious if there is anything you are currently working on because I would love to have someone who is willing to edit and critique truthfully and I am more than happy to return the favor.
I have to warn you, though, that the writing posted in my journal is all excerpts from the novel I am working on and it is about werewolves. Its not completely campy, though, I can assure you. There's a whole page dedicated to it on facebook under the title Les Loups-Garous if you'd like to check it out.
I am hoping to find someone who will be able to really tell me what they think about what they read in my journal and are also willing to offer up suggestions when necessary.
So, just let me know what you think.
