Hello Out There!

Mar 11, 2008 19:16

Name:  Aliet, AF, or Red.  I respond to all three.

Age: 21

Location: The Great Northwest baby!  Rain and beavers for all!

About me: I've been writing since the third grade.  I hope I've improved since then.  I have an obsession with the motif of rain, light, and shadow.  As well as men in long coats. I'm currently going to school to get my degree in Sociology, so some of that may drift in from time to time.  I apologize in advance.  My goal is to finish one of my novels, and get it published--but to do that, there's a certain amount of self-confidence required.  I lack that.

About my journal: It's a breeding ground for one-shots, chapter snippets, and character studies.  Sometimes the scenes don't really seem to fit together, but I write them as they come to me.  I try to tag them so they all get synced together though.

What I like: chocolate, characters, the rain, video games, aliens, ghosts, long jackets, tea... I could go on forever here.

What I dislike: Heavy-handed symbolism, late-night classes, slow walking people, hypocrisy, and hotdogs.  Ugh, Hotdogs.

What I read: I read what I write.  Science fiction and fantasy.  Fiction in general, really.  Occasionally I wander off into the horror or comics section, because Hellboy is just that much fun.

What I don't read: Romance novels, historical fiction, and most nonfiction.

Favorite authors: Mark Anthony, Mercedes Lackey, Richard Matheson, and others that escape my memory.

What I write:  I mostly write science fiction, and fantasy, as well as stories with fantastical elements that make attempts to remain grounded in the real world.  I'm not entirely sure what that works out to be... but hey!  It feels good.  Usually, it's all in 3rd person perspective, since I prefer the feeling of GODLIKE POWER the way you can get into everyone's head that way.

What I don’t write: Poetry.  I tried, and failed miserably.

Could you edit someone else's work?: In theory yes.  It really depends on the length of the work and the time of year I'm asked.  School, tragically, comes first.

What I’m looking for: Anything really.  I've nothing specific in mind.

fantasy, science fiction
