A Name: Jared

Location: Northern California (and no, I don't mean San Francisco, think another 276 miles and you got it)

Ideologies/Politics: I'm a L/libertarian. I've been registered with the LP since I turned 18 and voted for Michael Badnarik in the presidential election of 2004. Despite this fact, and my utter loathing of party politics, I am a bit more radical than a good portion of the party. While I don't necessarily like the idea of voting on party lines, as one should always vote for who they feel will do the best job and not the lesser of two evils, I feel that in this stage of the LP's development, and without proportional representation in the U.S., that is is an unfortunate step that needs to be done.

Personality/Background: Well, as for personality goes, on the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator, I am an ENTP which is most often described as a devil's advocate. This is what I do, often without people realizing it and this consequently leads to inevitable conflicts with people.

I was born and raised in Humboldt County, California. I lived in one of the more rural parts, but went to school in a more populated part of the county, which could account for my chronic libertarianism. My explanation is that the rural/conservative association contributed to my economic beliefs, and sense of personal responsibility as well as individualism, whereas the suburban/liberal association contributed to my social beliefs, and focus on issues of social justice. Though, that could also come from my having gone to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in my more formative years.

I am also a staunch agnostic, even more so than the so-called "hard agnostics"

I am still going to school and am currently in my fourth year at Humboldt State university where I am completing two degrees; one in Political Science with the other being in Philosophy. My focus should be quite obvious by now, but it is Political Philosophy and I have particular interest in Rawls, critical race/gender theory, and many other socio-political issues in the field. Within the next year I will begin applying to grad schools, or law schools. I still haven't decided.

Interests: Well, I've already mentioned some of them, what with my academic career, but I also play bass guitar a lot, but haven't found anyone to play with in a long time.

Other than that, I like environmental issues and have a commitment to alternative as well as traditional energies. Though I don't like the guy, I have to admit that I agree with Pat Robertson when he said that, "We need it all," in relation to drilling at home, conservation of resources, as well as alternative energies.

I also like cars, and the idea of shoving a diesel engine into pretty much any frame I could find :-p If only I had the money.

I guess that's it folks.
