Earlier this week, my graduation requirements were all officially discharged. Thus, I am finished, though I won't officially get the "Dr." to stick in front of "adamc" until December 20. Starting September 14, I'm living in Brooklyn Heights in Brooklyn, NY. My first day working at Jane Street is September 17.

I've accepted a full-time position as an OCaml hacker at Jane Street Capital, starting this fall.  Now there's just the small matter of that dissertation....

I dreamed that Wolverine (from the X-Men) started as a PhD student in programming languages at Berkeley. He was interested in rewriting logics.

I've created a new web site called Software Scrutiny for collaborative evaluation of programming languages. The idea is that you post programming tasks and solutions to them in various languages, and then you post write-ups on your and other people's solutions, on languages in general, on particular programming techniques, etc ( Read more... )

I've released some dynamic web site tools for Standard ML.

If you've ever wanted a statically checked version of PHP that can interface with SML modules, then this is for you. There's also a system for efficient SQL database access from SML, currently with a PostgreSQL implementation.

I'm interested in any feedback about this.
