From the Sea, not saying he's washed up or anything of the sort: Addy Chubb Took

May 01, 2003 23:27

isengar_took, my twelfth-born, my youngest, my little baby, has returned from the sea at long, long last.

Thank goodness he's been keeping up with his laundry. I can't imagine how big a laundry bag he'd need otherwise.

Sennie, my darling lad, welcome home to Great Smials. We have missed you so.

Tis good to be back on land. The sea calls, but it also tips and pitches and drenches; I don't think I spent more than an hour or two dry or able to keep food down.

Hmm. Food. The sea has no mushrooms. I don't suppose you have any?

Oh dear! My poor boy! You do look so thin!

All the kinds you could wish! And I'm going to run down to the market and get more because we are going to have a party at Great Smials to welcome you home! How's tonight? Or is that too soon?

*hugs mother*

Oh, Mother! I've missed you! And the rest of the family - I can't wait to see them. I think I'll write a haiku for the occassion, if you think that would be all right.

*hugs back*

Why, darling boy! *pats his cheek* When is there not a good time to write haiku? *smiles at him fondly* Your father would be so proud!
