Holy Week and last week.

The best thing about being in choir during Holy Week is that you get to be a bigger part of the services than the congregation, and I think it makes it more special. The worst part of about Holy Week is trying to recover when it's all done. lol

Saturday I went out to start my truck so I could take my weed eater to be repaired, and saw that that small window on the driver's side was out. And then I saw that there was a plastic piece on the floor. And wires were cut. And a hole had been drilled in the top of the steering column. Key wouldn't even fit in the keyhole. Nice. And they scratched more pain off my truck (honestly less than Tess did when she tried to eat the hood, but still).
Probably should have called the cops, but I didn't-because what could they do. And it's a really old truck, so I only have basic coverage.
I was so mad that someone couldn't leave shit alone. Glad my truck was still there, but worried about the cost.

Saturday afternoon I spent taking down the wire for the old electric fence in the back field and replacing some of the insulators. I took some pics that I'll try to upload later.

On the way in I noted blood on Sally (the dog), but she looked okay, and couldn't see where the blood was coming from.

On Saturday night I went out to feed, and found Sally on the porch with her tongue out, drooling bloody mucous, tongue sticking out, and looking like shit.
Remember, I have no truck. And she is a 150 pound bloody dog.
Then it turned out my friend who lives nearby, was in a town 45 minutes away about to eat dinner with her family.
This is where it turns out I really do love my dog more than my car. An 'old' duvet cover and a towel covered most of the back seat. She still managed to get slobber all over my shoulder. But we made it to the emergency vet. Did I mention her breath stunk horribly? She she always has to have her head at my arm? No? Well, it's true.
Have I mentioned I hate slobber. It truly grosses me out. Really. Luckily she hardly ever does it, but that night-a lot. With blood.
After waiting for 2 hours (now after 11pm) with a dog assuring me she's fine now, we find out that she has a ranula-a blocked saliva gland basically-in her mouth. It's easily irritated-causing the blood, and takes up a lot of room-causing the tongue to stick out.
She got two shots, two bottles of pills (giant pills, for a dog that has a mouth problem), and a suggestion to go to the regular vet to get it removed. They could do the surgery there, but they weren't really set up for it, so I choose door number 2.

This morning, after a very late night, I wanted to sleep through choir, but didn't Yay me! lol Managed to stay awake long enough to eat at Chipotle, and go to Petsmart.

Ran Tess and Zolar through the round pen. My right hams/piriformis is still really giving me fits, even with NSAID and arnica, so I decided to take a few days off riding, especially after I had spasm on Sat. (although the epsom salt baths seem to help some. once I cleaned the tub so I could use it. lol)

Was going to test out US Rider, and have them tow the truck to my car mechanic. However, my friend said that her husband (also my friend) can fix it, and they would tow it over to their house. Yay! He had a heck of a time getting the steering wheel unlocked to be able to tow it. They really messed it up. But, it's out of here now. Hopefully less than a week, he said. No price, but he said he has some parts on hand. (I'm not keen on the whole mixed part-color thing, but I think I need to suck it up right now.)

We talked about ways to protect the truck. The garage is too small. If it's inside the fence-in the barn area-I tend to not drive it because it's a pain to lock and unlock the gate each time; also, Tess eats the truck. J suggested inside the stall barn, but I had to remind him that I use it when I ride my horses*. I don't want to put up a second garage because then I'd only have one way into the field/barn. Maybe putting an electric coded gate on the front drive. But then there's the garbage. I don't know. Only the second time in 14 years someone has done something. I think if I had a nice 2500 truck I would be a bit more concerned. Or not. Not sure. Will have to think.

Going to take the dog into the vet early tomorrow and see if they will fix her. Hopefully I can leave her and pick her up later. My vet does appts and walk in, so might be okay. Although it probably involves a surgery, and those are usually scheduled. Hopefully the bloody drool will help them go for today.

(Not that I need to go to work and make money to pay for all this or anything. *sigh* Luckily my NP is working tomorrow, so she can cover for me until I get in.)

Oh, just one more note of fun for the week. Thursday morning I have a 7am meeting for a board I'm on. I usually get up at 6:40. Yeah, 5am is not my friend. Then, instead of EfM, in the evening we have a fundraised for another board I'm on. Long day. At least the evening one includes entertainment. The group is based on a world class organ my church has, so it's always about music. :D And I get to help with the check in desk. (You will remember from the arab shows that I actually like doing that sort of thing). Also, less uncomfortable mingling.

Right. Now that it's really late, and ya'll have already given up on this post. I am out of here. I swear. Night.

*he can't ride anymore because of a cancer and surgery he had. he had a horse recently, but I think he now has her at his nephew's. I hope I didn't hurt his feelings by saying that I actually ride and that I need the space open.
