So I rode Zolar tonight. I was worried the last few days about riding and screwing up, or worried that I had to get it exactly right. I decided to just shut up that section of my brain, and just have fun. And do my best.
And I had fun. :) And worked hard. lol Lots of lateral work. Still pushing the time in canter to get him a little more fit. He's still trying to stop when he gets tired.
Worked on halt/walk transitions. When we do a centerline, halt, then go forward again, he generally starts moving his butt sideways first. Then he goes forwards. Almost like his front end gets stuck. I finally realized that if I keep my legs on, like we could leave at any time, he realizes we could leave at any time, and the front end doesn't get stuck. yay!
Also, I'm really happy it's the weekend. Finally a day off after 12 days on. whee!
But tomorrow the chiropractor is coming to do Rex, Zolar, and Sally (the dog). And Sunday I take Tess over to K's so she can start training her to ride. Poor Tess, I hope she doesn't think she's getting kicked out. She's felt left out lately since I haven't worked her. :( And let's hope Rex and Zolar don't get too agitated for too long. Rex has a fit when she's just out of his sight, so wish us luck.
