JOINING AD LIBITUM

JOINING AD LIBITUM
Okay, so your character has decided that he/she wishes to join Ad Libitum for sure. In order to do so your character will be required to participate in an initiation quest with an existing member of Ad Libitum. For you, this means completing one (1) quest log with someone who plays a member of Ad Libitum. This can be with a moderator, someone who plays a guild leader, or just another player who plays a member of Ad Libitum. (Preferably a part of the branch your character wishes to join, but this isn't mandatory.) If you're worried about grabbing someone, you can post a request in ad_libitum_ooc. Together you can decide the sort of quest you'd like to embark on. (Please note these are just sample quests. You can come up with something completely different.)

Additional Notes: Each branch requires something different in their initiation. Here's a good rule of thumb on how to succeed for each branch.
  • Blessenwood: Requires nothing! Just do your best to complete the quest.
  • Port Merrium: Know how to navigate the high seas (or at least, know how to swim). An affinity for water's a huge bonus!
  • Wuldorwurth: Be able to handle nobles and the city life. It's huge and bustling over there!

JOINING THE BLACK DREAM
Unlike Ad Libitum, there's no serious initiation. Instead, potential recruits are required to travel down to Port Merrium and showcase their talents to Kateri - the head of the Black Dream. Once she sees the performance, she then decides one's role within the Black Dream and how that person must fulfill it. For you, this means you can either complete 1 log with Kateri OR PM the mods with the details of how you wish to handwave this initiation. Either way, contacting the mods is necessary! Once the member's completed his trial, he's ready to become a member of the Black Dream and travel the world!

Roles Within the Black Dream:

  • Actor: Someone who performs within the plays performed in Port Merrium or across the world. They're required to memorize lines and then act before huge crowds! (May also be recruited as spies for other guilds, but that's another story.)
  • Backstage Technician: Someone who creates the sets/costumes/lights/props for various plays and productions that the Black Dream puts on. They must be skilled with a sewing machine, a lightboard, or anything "technical" that a performance could ever need or want.
  • Musician: Someone who plays an instrument well. This is the most flexible of the positions, as they can travel and give impromptu performances all around Atlas.
  • Artist: Someone who paints and creates artwork for the populace. Another flexible position that allows them to travel.
  • Street Performer: Pretty self-explanatory, but someone who performs on the streets to the crowds that pass by.
  • Circus Performer: Someone who performs within the circus! This is widely open to interpretation, but it does require the member to stay in Port Merrium for the majority of the time.

JOINING TYCHE'S ALLIANCE:
This is currently open to ATLAS NATIVES ONLY. Off-worlders can't join because of racism and prejudice they face against Atlas natives (the irony, considering Kadir's their leader). As we currently don't have any Atlas natives in-game, we don't have a set initiation in place for them. Should another one gain acceptance, then we'll add to this as necessary!

SWITCHING BRANCHES
Your character is welcome to switch guild branches at any time. It may be that their friends or all a part of another branch, they're going to be staying in another city for an extended time, or the climate and feel of another city suits them better. (For example, a scientifically-minded character might want to travel to Ouin because of all their technological breakthroughs, or a noble may wish to switch to Wuldorwurth to address the divisions between upper and lower class there.) It's really up to you! Your character may switch between guild branches as many times as he or she wishes. The only requirement on your part is to notify the moderators by commenting on THIS POST with the guild your character will be transferring to. (Why is optional.) This is the equivalent of your character informing one of the guild leaders that he/she is switching guilds.
