Earth Jam 2006!

This will be a quick update, as I have to leave for class momentarily.

Ok, here's the recap:

This weekend, Daniel and I went to Camp Zoe in Missouri for a camping trip/music festival, called Earth Jam. It was an amazing experience, and we met so many incredible people. We're definitely going to try to go back next month. Its the sort of thing thats impossible to explain. Everything was so open and honest, and everyone would talk to you as if they had known you for years. Absolutely incredible.

This week I've been churning out the papers nonstop. I have one more that I'm going to knockout this afternoon, and then I get to relax a little bit until finals (which start next week). Then I get a two week vacation until summer classes start. Yay!

Ryan and I have almost finalized that wording of the medical marijuana and decriminilization petitions. Hopefully we'll be able to start canvasing tonight after the speech on campus by Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (L.E.A.P.). Its a very exciting time. The state polled at over 70% support of medicinal cannabis, so we have very high hopes that a city as progressive as Fayetteville will be able to pass it. It still amazes me that government would rather us use dangerous, highly addictive and often fatal prescription drugs instead of using the miracle plant. I mean, its the single most effective treatment for the symptoms of MS for crying out loud! But the FDA says there is no medical use. Clearly they never asked the American Medical Associate (which is no suprise, seeing as they didn't ask the AMA before they made it legal in the first place, despite that back that somewhere in the neighborhood of 30% of all medications contained cannabis or cannabis extracts before prohibition began. I just hope we can eventually take medical decision away from the government and place them solely in the hands of patients and their physicians. Someday...

At any rate, I'm off to prepare some food, then its campus time! I'll talk to you guys later. Peace!
