Not that there's anything wrong with being around people, but Gordon privately feels that having arranged matters with Dr. Crowe counts as his mandatory social interaction with people outside his immediate group for the day. As far as he's concerned, the best thing to do now is grab whatever relatively portable meal can be had for both him and Alyx

"So," says Alyx once the main bar area is safely out of earshot. "What was with that hesitation when you introduced me to Dr. Crowe?"

"Huh?" Gordon blinks; he'd half forgotten. "Oh... that." His mouth twitches. "Momentary vocabulary failure. It happens more often than I'd like."

"So what were you going to say before your vocabulary failed you?"

"'Girlfriend'," says Gordon with a shrug. "Seemed like kind of an inadequate word, though. All things considered."
