Thanksgiving

I had a pretty good Thanksgiving. We had already put our Christmas tree up last Tuesday. We do that every year so we can enjoy it longer. We also made gingerbread cookies before Thanksgiving. We made some on Monday to give to my brother, and we made the rest on Wednesday and put them in the freezer to pull out for gifts and parties. I had also made cranberry cherry gummies early last week to take to Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving day, my family just stayed home. Mom and I were going to to uptown Charlotte and watch the Charlotte Thanksgiving parade live, but after finding out that 100,000 people would be there, we decided to stay home and watch the Macy's parade instead. Then we watched the National Dog Show, or at least part of it. I saw the terriers and the toy breeds which are the two groups I'm most interested in. Then I had to bake a batch of cupcakes to take to Friday's dinner. I had to wait my turn because Mom made chocolate pecan pies (for Thanksgiving dinner), and banana cookies (for Dad) first. The only tradition I actually kept besides watching the parade was the afternoon walk. I walked in the trailer park by myself. Then we had homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner.

On Friday morning. I watched dad make green bean casserole from scratch. I have no idea when he made the dressing because he took that to dinner too. He even deep fried the onions that go on top. They burned a little, so if me makes it again, he will use the canned fried onions. I do have to say that the homemade mushroom sauce was 100% better than canned cream of mushroom soup, and the green beans were fresh too.

I had two budgie visitors this past week, and both were molting. So was Izzy. He lost five tail feathers at least on Thursday morning, and so he didn't feel good. He was wobbly when flying, and quiet when in his cage. He loves to have visitors, and Maximus and Sweet Caroline both came up on the side of their cage to meet him when he was out. They did it at different times though. Maximus also did a lot of the kitchen commentary while Izzy didn't feel well. All the budgies like it when the sink is on, and they enjoy frying onions too.

We took Dixie with us up to Thanksgiving dinner, and over the course of our trip we counted 143 Christmas trees tied to people's cars, in the backs of pickup trucks, or on trailers. Dixie got into it with the other dogs, and also she gets underfoot while cooking so we put her back in the van. She didn't mind. Every thing was good, and I enjoyed seeing my cousin who was there and her husband. Her kids ate up the gummies, so she wants the recipe. I also need to send it to my aunt. Mom's pecan fudge pie was delicious. We didn't have pumpkin pie, but there was pumpkin dump cake and pumpkin cupcakes. I never got one of my cupcakes, but I don't mind. I also liked everything else. I think Dad should make green bean casserole from scratch again some time. We brought some home for leftovers and I think I ate all of it. We had turkey, dressing, and cranberry salad leftovers too,

On Saturday, Mom and I were gone all day. In the morning we went to a classic car show that benefits Ignite, the autism group I'm a part of. I sold 50/50 raffle tickets, and I sold a lot of them. I managed to get a lot of people to buy 20 because they were cheaper that way. I also saw lots of neat cars and cute dogs. People bring their dogs to these things, and I saw three cute chihuahuas and two cute Italian greyhounds. After the car show Mom and I went Christmas shopping. I got most of mine done. I also found some things I wanted and suggested them to Mom for stocking stuffers.

Other stuff that has happened this week. I accidentally set off the burglar alarm at the house where I walk the dog. I got a last minute request to walk him on Wednesday, and one roommate didn't communicate with the other so the alarm was on. I didn't remember the code either. It took me half an hour to stop shaking because I was startled so badly. I had no problems on Friday because I had expected to go walk him that day.

We have been putting up Christmas decorations. I think everything is up except the outside lights, but it's raining and will be dark in an hour, so we can't do those today. Mom also made some chocolate fudge from a new recipe last night. I think that new recipe is a keeper because it's better than mine.

Mom and Dad are appealing to get me switched from SSI to dependent SSDI after I was denied the first time. That process is a mess. I don't understand it, and I'm stuck in the middle of it. We are going to have a conference, but I hope it isn't until February. Their letters they send are vague and confusing. So is their website. We just need to pray. Lots.

I am in a fun exercise class with Ignite though.
