meme catch-up! Days 8-10

Mar 26, 2011 12:00

I've been posting the songs to Facebook, but I haven't kept up with them, or the other meme, here.

day 8 - a moment you felt the most satisfied with your life.

This one is tough, and that's part of why I got off track posting these. I feel unsatisfied with my life so often because I feel like I'm not living up to the basic standards I set for myself. One recent time I really felt satisfied was when I was at opalnipotent and bedlamboy's house with crankyliberal, cheyrae, and a couple other people to play writey drawey. Writey drawey makes everything better.

day 9 - how you hope your future will be like.

I hope my future involves:
* Tenure
* A home with space to entertain decent-sized gatherings of people
* A growing ability to engage students and get important concepts across to them
* Expanded regional and local rail systems and other forms of public transportation (do you have any idea how awesome it would be to be able to spend my hour-each-way commute reading instead of watching the road?)
* A reduction in rage due to electing politicians who actually give a crap about the lives and dignity of people who are different from them
* Non-destructive contact with extraterrestrial life forms. Even if we just discover a planet with mold that evolved independently of earth, that would be amazingly cool

day 10 - discuss your first love and first kiss.

This is actually a really awkward writing prompt, because both of the people involved are reading my LJ. My first kiss happened when rabswom came to visit me during the summer I spent at Colgate between my junior and senior years. I believe the first time I said "I love you" was to amandahope around the time I was graduating. I'm not sure how either of them feel about me sharing any more info (nothing bad, just personal) so I'll leave it at that.

Day 08 - A song that you know all the words to

Quite a useful one to have memorized: Songs To Wear Pants To, "I Am The First Fifty Digits Of Pi"

Day 09 - A song that you can dance to

Back at Colgate, all my friends were amused by my attempts to dance at ska concerts. The Pietasters were one of the bands that came, though they spent most of their show talking about how they were going to go drink at DKE once they were done.

Day 10 - A song that makes you fall asleep

I couldn't think of a song that actually makes me fall asleep, so I picked one that reminds me of times when I was really, really tired and could barely keep myself from falling asleep. I first listened to this song at 2 am while staying up to listen to bryucca's WRCU radio show freshman year at Colgate.

They Might Be Giants, "Put Your Hand Inside The Puppet Head"
