Take this with a grain of salt kids...

Okay I'm frustrated. I'm going to admit it. This insistence isn't really pressuring me because of my firm belief, but I think it's time that we set an understanding that I have a firm foundation in my belief and that NO ONE is going to change it by merely talking about it ( Read more... )

sorry about not specifying. acryingrose February 2 2007, 06:09:56 UTC
well, what I meant by "not important" is more not permanent. I do believe that they're important in the sense of being social learning tools, but beyond that, not so much.
And I meant by "lingering" as something more of continuing to be overly obsessed in the emo way. <===I really should have specified that one.

Are you trying to play devil's advocate? You're taking her statements wildly out of context.
Anyone in their right mind can gather that she's not damning highschoolian social interactions as a part of human development, she's merely expelling a frustrated and wholly justified rant on people who aren't even able to reap the benefits of their interactions with significant others because they refuse to view them objectively.

Frankly, this should be "generally applicable philosophy." People endeavor to attach far too much uneccessary weight to highschool relationships, and on a personal level I have seen too many people's priorities (including my own) become skewed in face of a significant other to believe that first love is as utopian as people make it out to be.

If you don't go to school with her, don't tell me how my context is wrong.

Now that that's out of the way...

No, I am not playing Devil's Advocate, although it is quite a favorite passtime of mine. I never said she was "damning highschoolian social interactions as a part of human development," I simply made it known to her that it was implied, which she then addressed as a mistake on her part, and corrected.

It's also hard to take what you say in your first paragraph seriously given the hypocritical nature of your second.
