AU MANDATE EXTENDED!
"The (AU) peace and security council decided to renew the mandate for six months, with the possibility of a review in the interim," AU peace and security commissioner Said Djinit said after a meeting in Nigeria's capital Abuja.

Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir said he would accept U.N. "political, financial, logistics and technical" support for an African peace force in Darfur. (via the Coalition as always)
Okay this makes my day so much better. Do you guys have any idea of the magnitude of this? The UN can help choose the leader of the AU force now, too, and this can only bode well.
In similarly related news, the gang & I are trying to come up with more fundraisers for Darfur. A Charity Concert with some very local bands is something we really want to do...have any of you ever organized something like this? And for my M-Towners, you guys want to help?
