it snowed about a foot last night, and now i'm stuck in my house. but i'm not complaining, i love days like these. especially when you have a sweater you're trying to make. yesssss.
here i give you part 2 of the weasley sweater project. (
part one is here) i started! and i have pictures!
yesterday i took a ride out to mount holly to
woolbearer's, which was a lot of fun for me. i've never really gotten to go to a "real" yarn store until yesterday, so when i walked into the tiny store teeming with yarn from all over the world i squeed just a little.
so, i was looking for a bulky yarn that looked as close to
this as possible. and (drumroll please...) i found reynold's lopi in earth red! (100% icelandic wool) here's a picture i found online. to me it looks more burgundy in person than it does in the picture, but you get the drift.
and here is my mountain of yarn, along with my brand spankin' new ADDI TURBOS!!! the rumors are true, people. they really are the best thing ever. i got them in size 13, and they are like buttah. whipped and unsalted. also hanging out on the table is weekend knits, which is where i am taking most of the pattern from.
this thing is knitting up soooo fast. huge needles and fat yarn will do that, but still. it's exciting. i was a bit preturbed when i realized the yarn was striping itself when i first started. i wanted to make a multicolored sweater, not a striped one. i remedied this by basically cutting the yarn and starting with a new piece when it started to get too stripy looking. it takes a lot of patience, but it's worth it. i don't need a striped sweater, i would look like a pirate or something.
again, i apologize for the crap pictures. here's what i finished yesterday:
and here's an up-close view of the stitches. isn't it yummy? i love the shades of red all over the place. the camera isn't doing it justice.
i'm really happy with the way it's turning out so far. i only have to go about 4 more inches - then it's time to start making the sleeves and whatnot. sweet.
in other non-knitting related news, my cat ramona + snow = cuteness. i took a couple pictures.
my backyard this morning
ramona's reaction to looking at the afformentioned backyard. i think this as the close mona ever gets to WTF!? she is a very cool cat.
and this is the best - i opened the door about an inch, and after sniffing the snow for a minute, she just stuck her paw out into it and immediately freaked out. hahahaha. this was the moment before her whole arm went through the little drift. that's her white arm above her head, about to smush into the snow. haha aw.
alright. i'm off to work some more on the sweater. it's still snowing. i feel like a movie marathon is in order. lord of the rings? hm. i would do harry potter, but i'm still reading the books and i don't want to go overboard.
p.s. my layout stopped working again. god dammit! what the fuck!?
