so i finally took my car to get looked at today. turns out, the bracket that attaches the lower front of the engine to the motor mount is broken in half. car is seriously unsafe to drive b/c the engine is pushing against the battery cable; has the potential to ground out the whole car if it gets knocked loose or worn. gonna be ~$180 to get that fixed, but that appears to be the extent of the mechanical damage. still haven't gotten an estimate on the body work, but i'm sure it will be $500+. oh well. my dad is gonna pay for the mechanical repairs, and that is really all i need done. i can live with the body damage until a later date, although i do need to get 2 new tires for the rear...
...and monday i decided to go get a quote for car insurance, cause my dad keeps fucking around and won't do it. welp, since i can't prove that i was insured within the last 30 days, guess what? my premium is 30% higher. it's fucking $180 a month for full coverage @ $500 deductible. had i been able to show proof of insurance, it would only be $120 from state farm (i chose progressive instead, cause they were cheaper in this case). jeezus MFC! i am paying 30% fucking percent more for my insurance cause my dad is a stupid bastard and decided not to renew his insurance AND DIDN'T TELL ME!
so now i am really a poor college student. i have like $6 in my account until next friday when i get paid cause i had to pay my cell bill + first CI payment, but i gotta fuckin have car insurance. i won't always be lucky and not hit anybody, or vice versa, and it's illegal since i still owe on the car.
but i have a rental car for the next 2 days, and my dad is paying for that. it's a chevy monte carlo. do i like it? well, it's like a tank. not really nice or fancy, but it works. i wouldn't buy one given a choice, but i'm not being picky since it was the only car that enterprise on govt had (broad st. and daphne places were rented out).
sorry for the venting, but damnit, this shit pisses me off. time to kick some ass and get a raise at work so i can afford this shit...
