The last bit of news about my mom, I said that she was going in for more scans and such today. First off, the reason why she went for more tests was because her oncologist, Dr Steinberg, said he wanted to check again. Mom and I think that he wasn't thrilled with the way mom's previous doctor handled things, because we were told that mom has small cell lung cancer, when in fact, on her chart it even said it's a different type of cancer. The good news is that this other type of cancer is possibly operable, but it would still be malignant. I think I already said this, well.. half a mind is working right now.
Anyway, again it went. Mom went to get the CT Scan earlier -- all by herself :) We won't find out those results until Friday. She's got an MRI tonight, which I am going with her to, then another appointment tomorrow and Friday. I think the appointment tomorrow is for a re-x-ray of her knee, which she fractured when she fell off the ladder.
Did I even say how this all started? I just looked and I have not, so... While I was in Kentucky, mom thought it would be a good idea and surprise me with having my room painted. Mom was reaching for some paint and ended up falling down from a small ladder we have, she tucked her arm under her ribs and fell on her right side. The x-rays from the fall resulted in a fractured knee (which is healed now) and a few bruised ribs. Since the doctor did an x-ray of her ribs, I'm thinking that's Dr Shortt (the doctor that said small cell cancer), he saw that there was a mass in her lungs.. the rest is history.
It's kinda funny, two days before mom fell, I twisted my ankle while on vacation. We're a sad pair, you should have seen us about a week ago, we looked really funny walking together, all bandaged up.
That's all for the update right now. I have to work Friday night, so I might be updating again whenever I can after mom's appointment on Friday.
