Well, my impromptu two week vacation is winding slowly to an end, and while it's extremely unfortunate that for retarded reasons I was unable to spend it in Canada, but I still managed to have myself a good time, albeit a fairly low-key one. That's just fine for me, actually, I'm not big on traveling by myself, to be honest, instead, I did what perhaps I'd always been longing to do due to have been prohibited having G.I. Joes as a kid: run around and shoot at people with a BB gun. And so I did.

It was interesting, a little different than I expected, I suppose when I had envisioned the playing area I'd thought it'd be flatter, like a barren field or the like, but instead it was a treacherous maze of hedges, fences and barriers, perfect for the more stealthy players to use to sneak up on us newbies and ventilate us (well, sharply annoy, rather) with a burst of automatic BB-fire.

My first of many games that day started off inauspiciously when I was shot from behind without even having the chance to return fire, which I soon discovered I would've been unable to do in any case, as I'd somehow manage to lose my gun's magazine, kind of a no-no in modern combat. Fortunately I was able to locate it at the beginning of the next round, in the assembly area of all places, and as the day went on I... improved probably isn't the right word, sucked less? Yeah, that might be it. I started lasting longer and longer, and even managed to get a couple kills, albeit at fairly short range and acting as a "zombie" in the final game, thus allowing me to respawn again and again from the "radiation tank" that had unleashed us undead terrors upon the world.

All in all it was fun, with there being more Japanese and more women (and more Japanese women!) there than I expected. Not meaning to be sexist or racist, of course, but I wonder what it says about me that I wasn't surprised by the American soldiers and marines competing with patches on their shoulders reading "Pork Eating Crusader" and the like.

Anyways, the rest of my vacation has been a lot more low-key, but I still have 3 more days of it left, which I plan on using to spend time with friends who work saner hours than I. Peace out (ha).
