I'm really tired and there is absolutely nothing to do at work, and I'm running a virus scan so i can't do anything really crazy to take away my CPU processing power and somehow I was led back to LiveJournal

really! you can!! it's a natural coping mechanism because this is not a normal thing to do.
what broke the ice for me when being introduced to the cadavers was when Jim our professor) was flipping one over by himself as a demonstration. They were supposed to in the pronated position. but alas.. So Jim was flipping over the male cadaver and THUMP! hits the cadaver's head on the table. The noise was just what you'd expect if your head hit that metal table. and in my head my reaction was "Ow, that must've hurt!" then i realized he was dead. so I just giggled like an idiot for a second and was completely fine!
I did stay away from mean for the first 2 weeks, but I'm totally cool now. We made enough food/cadaver jokes that I can tolerate about anything now.
hehe, i got to cut up the old man penis in my class! you have a big class, we only had 3 or 4 to our 3 cadavers.
i thought the first test was the hardest, with all of the back muscles being kinda confusing and learning the format for the test. it gets easier though :)
oh thank god that it gets easier. yeah, the format was crazy different and the back muscles and posterior nerves SUUUUUUUCKED.
haha, we haven't dissected anything crazy yet, Jim had dissected the spinal column to expose the cord and cauda equina and he also dissected the breast. (which was left on the enamel tray for the longest time!)
oh, and our cadaver leaked all over the floor the other night. hehe. Now her skin is all flabby and she looks like she is melting.
Your life sounds so... interestingly morbid. Morbidly interesting? Goodness. I could never do what you do, and less laugh at it! You've got thicker skin than I.
thanks. ^_^ it really isn't that bad, you get used to it. Like I mentioned in another post, laughing and poking fun are just coping mechanisms. This isn't a normal thing to do and not many people deal with this situation. It isn't disrespectful to laugh just a bit.
