Man it's been a while, hasn't it...
Okay, first things first- I completed and submitted my MoR entry. I'm very pleased with how it turned out, but I'll be honest when I say I don't much care if it wins. I really see the contest as more of a way of generating some quality stories and injecting some fresh interest into the fandom. I'm happy with my story, and if two other people read it and enjoy it I'll feel like it did it's job :) That said, keep your eyes out for when voting begins on October 1st, because those fics were written to be read!
In business related news, I have learned a valuable lesson: never be sad when things are quiet, because a huge rush is right around the corner. I've had 6 phone calls and as many emails in the past three days from people looking for a tutor. All of this is GREAT in terms of keeping the business going and supporting myself, but every new student makes scheduling more interesting for the one that comes after. Ideally I'd be teaching 15 to 20 hours a week. This doesn't seem like much until you figure in that every hour of teaching is accompanied by about an hour of transit round-trip. Having a car would make this easier, but I really just can't afford one.
In other words I feel like I'm running my feet off >.>
Weather this week had been warm and sunny- a last reminder of summer as the college students slug back to campus. I need to get it through my head that even if it's cloudy in the morning it will be PLENTY warm by the end of the day so I can start dressing appropriately...
