The sad thing is that I still want to talk about music.

1. My Anthem: Flogging Molly - Don’t Let Me Die Still Wondering
So don't let me die still wondering
what it was I left behind
I want a race well run ahead of the gun
with a dance before the far finish line.
So no life long regrets, only well feathered steps
till these shoes I can no longer shine
but don't let me die still wondering
for the love I left behind.

2. CURRENT favorite album (at this moment in time): Blue Oyster Cult - Best Of (Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll)
This is the type of cd that you can listen to forever and not get sick of it. Classic rock with absolutely gorgeous guitar and fun vocals. The whole band is fun, they write music because they enjoy it, and I love a band that doesn't take itself seriously but still produces excellent music. Interestingly enough, this was my dad's favorite band when he was younger.

3. My Dance Song(s): Groove Coverage - Poison
What can I say? Groove Coverage makes some of the best dance tracks, and this is a great cover. If the middle section goes on a bit too long, the way the singer grates out the vocals right before she sings I wanna hurt you just to hear you screaming my name more than makes up for it.

4. Rock-out song(s): The SmashUp - Never Gonna Kill Us
No one knows about this band, but I love them and I don't know why. It's heavy headbanger rock alternated with these compelling almost whispered segments that are still backed with some drums and guitar to keep the beat and just, gah. The lyrics are the standard macabre and rebellion oriented stuff, but they make it so much better than any other band I've heard who have attempted it. Give them a try even if you're not into the genre, they're worth it.

5. Love Song(s): Iron & Wine - Each Coming Night
This band is amazing. They make me like banjo. That...is a fucking task. All of their songs tend towards the soft side, this particular one is about a man asking his lover how she'll remember him after he's died. Absolutely beautiful.
Will you say to me when I'm gone
your face has faded but lingers on
'cause light strikes a deal with each
coming night. Oh, coming night.

6. Sad Song(s): James Blunt - Billy
There is no way for me to accurately describe my love for this song, I just, adore it and can't quite pinpoint why. The music isn't sad at all, if anything it's bouncy piano rock. Oh God, the way he says Oh Billy... I could listen to this song for hours.
Tomorrow comes, sorrow becomes his soulmate
the damage is done, the prodigal son is too late.
Old doors are closed but he's always open
to relive time in his mind, oh Billy...

7. Nostalgic Song(s): Against Me! - Pints of Guinness Make You Strong
Loud rock with grating vocals. I'll admit that this one's more because of how much I miss Ireland than anything else. Guinness for strength! God, I miss it. And this song really makes me think of it with lines like And just like James, I've been drinking Irish tonight and
If we're never together
If I'm never back again
well I swear to God that I'll love you forever.

8. Indulgence song(s): King Crimson - The Court of the Crimson King Including the Return of the Fire Witch and The Dance of the Puppets
This is prog-rock at it's best. More of a ballad than anything else, it tells the story of the Court in a rambling way with many odd shifts and it all just comes together so perfectly. It's also 10 minutes long, thus with the indulgence category. But really, weird and unexpected and lovely.

9. Sing-Along Song(s) (wherein you know all the lyrics and can't help beltin' em out): Eagles of Death Metal - I Only Want You
Love this song. Catchy, bouncy rock with light, teasing male vocals. It's about a guy only wanting someone for their body and showing complete indifference about how his lover feels. So absolutely arrogant and just a little sadistic in the best way.
And it's not my purpose to break your spirit
I'm not really interested in what's in your heart...
I only want you. I only want you.

10. Happy song(s): Cam Clarke - Son of a Preacherman
The best version of this song you will ever hear. Especially nice because of the male vocalist, you can fucking hear his smirk when he sings How well I remember the look that was in his eyes, stealing kisses from me on the sly. Just slightly country, slightly gospel, some piano, horns, even a fucking organ in the beginning. This is just a fun song.

11. Angry Song(s): Marilyn Manson - (s)AINT
This song is embarrassingly hot. Seriously. The way his voice and the music just grinds to the basic beat, I just can't think of a better song to fuck to, yeah. Very nice. What's my name? What's my name? Ah-ah, ah-ah...

12. Hopeful/Feel good song: Great Big Sea - Ordinary Day
Slightly folk, the singer's got this fantastic gravelly voice, and this song is just happy. You can't not move your feet.
I've got a smile on my face and I've got four walls around me
I've got the sun in the sky, all the waters surround me...

13. Favorite Band(s) currently (limit yourself, people):
-Flogging Molly (Seven Deadly Sins) They generally do either songs that are vaguely celtic or pirate songs. Since I already gave you one of the former...
-Beecake (Rip It Up) This is the song that the band is most proud of, so who am I to argue?
-Cute Is What We Aim For (Sweat the Battle Before the Battle Sweats You) Did you, did you hear that I'm so charming...
-Silly Wizard (The Queen of Argyll) Scottish folk. Oh God, SO GOOD.
-The Pogues (The Sick Bed of Cuchulainn) Celtic rock of the best kind.

14. Song that you would never admit to listening to otherwise: Bowling for Soup - 1985
Mass produced American pop-rock, shoot me now.

I'd like it if anyone would like to fill this out, but I'm not going to spotlight anyone. You definitely don't need to make it as detailed as I did if you don't want to, or provide DL links.
