Our first time seeing a Winchester in the teaser, but of course, misdirection! Hey, the boys were headed through Bisbee - wonder if the they had a case in Tucson. Chupacabra, La Llorona, the ghost of El Tiradito?
Interesting comparison, season four Sam argues against human connections to Adam and Jimmy, but here it's Dean, insistent it's not a great idea for Sam to be in communication with his Stanford friends. Also, pretty obvious he thinks Sam is never going back and Sam either doesn't pick up on that, doesn't know yet that he's planning to go back, or doesn't want to get into correcting Dean's misapprehension.
I liked how when Sam sent Becky out of the room to get beers, Dean knew without saying Sam had spotted something on the video tape. And again, Dean says "we are not like other people" something that is oooh bad! when Sam says it in season four. Also, Dean refers to shooting things in the heart with a silver bullet as a job "perk."
Hi, Sam's underwear! I snickered at the tough guy gun tuck into those ridiculous floppy jeans Sam is wearing.
Shapeshifter Dean at the trunk of the Impala is pretty hot and I notice we're getting more of the "Dean voice" from Jensen in this episode. Shapeshifter says Dean thinks he's a freak who will be left by everyone he loves. Aw. And omg, Jensen's shoulders look a mile wide in that gray t-shirt. Woof.
Our most human monster so far, talking about his childhood even - much more so than the wendigo. And Dean plugs him full of bullets and nobody weeps or has an emo moment or thinks Dean might be going dark side.
Shapeshifter Dean's hookup technique isn't as suave as the real Dean's, I suspect. Plus, you just want to be loved, monster boy? Then what's with tying up chicks and torturing them? Try just buying them dinner, loser.
Why isn't Becky scared of real Dean when he finds her in the sewer? Because she saw the shifter change from Dean into her and realizes the real Dean didn't torture her? And then the boys bond over mutual freakishness. Huh.
