If you're getting tired of reading these LJ posts about my running, then stop reading them.
So, tonight, I decided to take a step towards my goal (half-marathon in October) by stepping up the mileage of my run. I had planned out a 7.2 mile route that would take me all around the southeast side of Evansville. Unfortunately, I screwed up about 1/2 way out and shaved about a mile off the total distance by turning when I shouldn't have (I just wasn't paying attention). The run felt good, but I was definitely exhausted and winded at the end. 6.1 miles in about 70 minutes - again, by no means fast, just trying to get it in.
I've set a midpoint goal for myself between here and the half marathon of running home from work one night (about 11 miles). I figure 4-6 more weeks of gradually stepping it up before I will be ready for that, and then another four weeks to prepare for the half.
In other news, two good, long, productive days at work. I have to spend some time working tomorrow morning, but I'm planning to take the afternoon to FINALLY beat Twilight Princess. Nicole and I are going downtown for fireworks much to my trepidation and fear. It's just... I don't do well with all of those people. Then work Thursday, and to Chicago for the weekend. Nicole's cousin is getting married - it should be a fun getaway and a good first "road trip" for the new car.
Leadership Institute can't get here fast enough. I'm definitely getting excited. We'll see what happens.
