For a while, I've really wanted to take an improv class. It looks fun, and I think I could be a decent person at it. I tend to overthink things as opposed to 'go with the flow'.
The downside is that I'm lazy, and most of these classes, if not far, are in the evening. I already teach three evenings a week (and work weekends), and it's a pain for me to get out. Also, Peter complains about feeling bored when i'm not home; I feel bad if I ditch him in the evenings. (I don't think he'd want to go - he likes to just sit and rest at home.)
The obvious choice is
Second City. The recent session just started; maybe I'll think about it again in May, when it's warmer. It's also downtown, a drag for me to commute.
There are favourable reviews for
Bad Dog Theatre, and it's closer to where I live (Dufferin/Ossington - coincidentally, very close to my students and work). Downside: the class schedule hasn't been updated, so I don't know when they're taking people again.
Black Swan Comedy Club offers drop-in classes for my lazy, unable-to-commit-to-a-schedule self. It's the cheapest too. It's also the farthest, and I can't realistically one of the times. Maybe Saturdays, if I can convince Peter to go with me.
