This is what happens when you don't read SB/RL fics in ages, and then just sort of tumbles back in. You ask a lot of questions and you flounder about like a fish on dry land, that's what you do...
I'm a little unsure about the fic I'm looking for, I just remember the very end. It's an AU and what happens is that somehow Harry ends up with Sirius and Remus, living with them. By the time he goes to Hogwarts in the end, Remus happily teaches DADA, and as he scurries past Harry just before Harry's Sorting, Ron says something along the lines of "Blimey, that's your uncle, they say he's a werewolf!" and Harry's all "Yeah, what of it?" and Ron tells him that's incredibly cool.
Sorry for the slight incoherence, I hope somebody knows what I'm talking about here. I think the story might even be structured around Harry telling Ron about his past in the train compartment when they first meet, but I'm not a 100% about this.
