During a breaking-of-the-fast that I attended, the sermon was by a 19-year old Indonesian girl who goes to a university in Iran. She said she’s having a break from university right now - not because it’s fasting month, but more because this year’s fasting month fell in the hottest months of a year in Iran, so university activities are suspended for several months. Wow.

During an occasion, the Muslim religion teacher in our school was asked to read a prayer. We, of various religious backgrounds, then bowed our heads in preparation of the prayer that he’s going to read - but surprisingly somebody’s cellphone rang, and the ringtone was Rob Thomas: “I don’t want to be lonely no more...” We looked around to see who forgot to turn off his cellphone.
The religion teacher, embarrassed, took his cellphone out of his front-pocket and turned it off. “I’m sorry.” The next second, we bowed our heads again, not really to start the prayer, but to hide our laughter.
