I've finished reading The Songs of Merlin. Just like in the first book, it's the third character, someone who is not what he should be (this time it's an unfunny joker, Bambelwy), who steals the show. Quite a fun reading, anyway. And again reference to The Sword in the Stone was made several times. (Merlin wants to live backward in time! Merlin wants to teach someone in the form of a fish someday!)
Also finished The Golden Compass (Philip Pulman). Provocatively amazing. I can't wait for the next books. The translation could have been better, though. The book makes me want to have a daemon and a panserborne. The picture of Iorek on the cover is so cute that every now and then I stopped reading and brushed my cheek against the picture and said, "I want one!!!!"
Am reading Chesterton's The Paradoxes of Mr Pond. I LOVE Chesterton. It's kind of funny how a writer (and an awesome one he was) is largely neglected by today's masses but have so much influence on subsequent great writers. (Borges and Orwell, amongst many.)
