New Community might be of interest
I started a community: transcultural
It's all about how you define yourself in the world, being made up of all the components that you were given and the ones you pick up along the way. :) Basically it's sociology in motion through the eyes of individuals of diverse backgrounds. The community is for real discussion of all aspects of what it means to be and individual and a world citizen while at the same time staying part of the whole... kind of trying to get beyond the fluff of one world, etc.
I came across this concept of transculturalism as the guy behind the book was a guest lecturer at one of the evening seminars for my grad program, and it was super interesting.
Anyway, mod, feel free to delete this if it's not relevant, but I thought it might be of interest to some of the sociologist and other people in the community as academia tends to have people from all walks of life and all over the world.
