I discovered that the master's program I'm interested in does accept students in the spring. However, one of the disadvantages to spring admission is that you aren't eligible to be a TA.
So, here's my question: if I want to have a teaching assistantship when I go for my PhD, how important is it that I have a teaching assistantship in my MA program?
If I start sooner, I'll finish sooner, so I may actually come out ahead financially if I start in the spring even without the assistantship, and other forms of aid are still available. But I don't want to screw myself out of an assistantship later.
