So one of the older dorms Snyder Phillips got remodeled over the summer into some headquarters of a new major some interdisciplinary thing that kinda sounds like crap but whatever. They left the room parts alone as far as I can tell (good, they're historic and full of sturdy craftsmanship you don't see today because of all the cheap crap people use because no one will pay for the stuff that lasts) but they added a huge new construction in between Snyder and Phillips (they were always connected) with classrooms and the best. god.damned. cafeteria. I've been there twice now and it is so fucking amazing.
here is the menu for "The Gallery" it sounded kinda lame to me, I thought it would just be a bunch of junk with a catchy gimmick but it isn't! Tonight I had freshly grilled fish, couscous (which was a bit dry) which for some reason had raisins in it, asparagus that was almost perfectly crisp (and probably perfect for most uni kids), and a yummy salad with snap peas and chicken (it was oriental salad night), I mainly went over there tonight because the menu said there would be tiramisu which is one of my favorite desserts (although it can get screwed up) but that ended up being a lie. When I finally got someone over at "Bliss" to notice me to ask my fucking question (one girl I was a standing in front of just kept chatting with her friend and the two guys were busy serving ice cream, (from the MSU Dairy Store) and fetching new ice cream tubs from the freezer they said that they never got the stuff they needed to make it.
So! I'm really recommending that people come out here to eat. 8 dollars for lunch and 9 for dinner or depending on how many people want to do this I can preorder a pack of 10 for 7.75 good for any meal. So watch the menu and your schedule and come eat delicious food. Even though there are many places listed you can eat and any and all of them for the same price so it isn't like you have to choose. I think this is where the tuition increase for Spring went. XD
The Indian curry smelled sooo good! But the fish called to me.
On my way back to Owen I ended up behind a group of girls who moved over to let another group of girls pass them and they called out to each other and the one said "You going to Sny-Phi?!" and another one said "Yes" and the first one is "We just came back from there!". I actually heard "sci-fi" and I was like....whaat? Then I realized they meant Snyder Phillips. Apparently we're abbreviating in these days, the website does for their menu. It used to be that the cafe was only in Phillips so I do see where this is coming from.
